You know you're back in Australia when...
...A Member of Parliament actually says without shame on television that women being a substantial percentage of medical school students are part of the problem with Australia's health system.
I flicked on the TV to find the pompous asshole basically saying "Woman! You get back in the kitchen and bake me some pie!" In Australia, women do not go to Med School, do not pass Go, but must go directly to house-keeping. His argument was that women get into medicine then take time off for families. Maybe, just maybe, you bastard, if YOU MEN took the time off, the women could keep working. What an asshole! Seriously, Liz M will tell you I am no femi-nazi, but sheesh, this was too much. It's all the woman's fault, how dare she be an uppity sheila and try to work in a prestigious, well-paying field? I mean, really, she should be popping out babies but not taking the space of responsible men who could be in that position. *Rolls eyes*

Blargh, I'm going to tap dance on John Howard's grave (when he dies) for this one.
