Ouch.

The Island made how much this weekend?

And it cost how much to make?

...oooooooh, burn!

Curse you, pasty Johnny Depp! Curse you and your sweet, sweet confectiony, feel-good movie!

Only in Hollywood is $12 million considered a failure.

I'm not too worried. They usually make up for it with DVD sales. Let's see how it does next week. Besides, with all the MS product placement in the movie I would be surprised if they didn't already cover all the production costs ;รพ

I'm not usre exactly how much Wonka was a "feel-good" movie. It was incredibly creepy, and some kids were scared by the burning dolls (and probably Christopher Lee, too).

Wait, wait, wait...we're cursing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and not Fantastic Four (one of the worst of the year) or Wedding Crashers (average and unoriginal)?

I'll answer you, but consider this a big "HELLO, THIS IS YOUR FRIEND SARCASM" for all of you: I was being facetious!!!!!!

I loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Adored it! Savored every quirk and zany expression on Johnny Depp's second most unnaturally pale character ever. But seeing as it was #1 at the box office...well, that was supposed to be the joke. You'll get no argument from me about Fantastic Four or Wedding Crashers, though I can't say fairly that they're awful as I've been smart enough not to see them (or have a job for which I must).

Well, but compared to cost, $12 million is a failure in this case. If it were The Blair Witch Project, they'd be uncorking the champagne. It's all relative, true, but this is a definite demand does not cover the cost of supply production.

Fantastic Four wasn't really that bad, especially compared against other recent superhero drek like Daredevil. It couldn't compare to the glory of Spider-Man or X-Men, but it was fluffy fun.
