But first, some pimping. I know I've told some people to read [livejournal.com profile] deepredbelle's Mythologies, and if I didn't, well, I am now. She writes like poetry, the good kind, and as anyone in my writing group knows, I'm no fan of poetry normally, so the fact I like this should tell you how good it is.

Also, I am a bad, bad person for forgetting to pimp Silk by [livejournal.com profile] fan_elune. I was at work last week reading that and I could have left early; I stayed to finish it. I read Middlesex a while ago, and the processing of silk that she brings up here has that same inside-knowledge feel, and she wrote about Fanty and Mingo, Serenity-only characters, and made them fabulous (as in 'absorbing' but also as in faaaaaaabulous, savvy?). One of the most sensual and awesome backstories for side characters I have ever read, for real.

Aaaaaaand we're back to weekend peril!!! Friday might be movie plans, but my sister and brother-in-law are coming in at midnight to Newark. Anyone know how long it takes to get from here to there by transit and how much? I might just do that and try to make the movie.

Saturday, I think I'll be home to see aforementioned sibling and sibling-in-law, but there's a party I want to go, too. It necessitates finding a costume, a little last-minute, moreover, but sibling and in-law will be at a wedding, so I could probably go. Maybe I could drive down? I have no idea.

From your place to Newark, I would say an hour to an hour and a half, less if you catch the trains right. I would walk to 86th st, take the express to Fulton St., then catch the PATH to Newark.

Newark airport? Or Neward train station? If it's the airport, go to Penn and take the train.

PATH goes to Newark airport? Is there anything it can't do!?

Airport. I would have figured most people wouldn't think to just randomly go to the city. Especially not me as I only know two things about Newark:

1) It has a nice airport.
2) In Johnny Mnemonic it was it's own free city-state.

Seeing as the second thing is fake, well, yeah, airport.

OK, then take a train from Penn Station to EWR. There are a couple of lines that stop there, so trains go frequently. Your ticket will also be for the Airtran, which will take you from the train station to the terminal. That's why the ticket is expensive and only one-way. (Also, since you need the ticket for the Airtran, DON'T CHUCK IT).

It's pretty simple and doesn't take too long. Do not, under any circumstances, take the PATH. You'd have to take the PATH to Journal Square, switch trains, take it to Newark Penn Station then get on an NJ transit train to go one stop to the airport, which is so much more complicated than it needs to be for you. As for how long it will take, I'd check the train schedules.

It only goes to the train station (see below).

Not Newark airport sorry. I typed that while I was asleep. :P

It goes to Newark-Penn station, which has a bus, and an NJT train to Newark Liberty. If you get the NJT, you can also use the airtrain for free once you get there. You might have to use the NJT, as I don't know if the bus runs late at night. The NJT will be something like 13 dollars round trip or something.

Or she could take the PATH from WTC straight to Newark.

If the bus between Newark-Penn and EWR is running, she could take that straight to the appropriate terminal. The only reason to take NJT is if the bus isn't running.
