Interesting...
Nov. 27th, 2005 04:31 pmI went to see Ocean's Twelve in the theater with my friend Heddy last year, and I swear, usually watching movies in the theater means being better able to focus on what's going on in the thing. When I saw it then, I was unimpressed. Not only was it less clever than Ocean's Eleven, but the plot was so convoluted and seemed to just be an excuse to throw together the cast as a favor to them rather than the viewers.
Watching it again now, for the first time since I saw it in theaters, I am suddenly noticing all the little hints and winks that sorta gave away the ending. That they're setting up slimy-French-Italian man, and everything they seem to be joking about is the truth. Heh heh. It's actually pretty clever despite itself. It's lots of fun, and I forgot Eddie Izzard was in it, and for the two seconds he's there, he's fabulous. The whole Julia Roberts-as-her-own-doppelganger thing is incredibly awkward, but Bruce Willis is a great sport.
I recommend it highly now.
