Surfing Sunday...

Okay, back up to Saturday night ( Read more... )
The real point of the weekend was SURFING. I literally froze (had actual splotches of frostbite on my feet to the point of having no sensation in them), didn't manage to stand up, was dragged under lots of time, swallowed more salt than should be non-lethal, and got sand in areas I don't want to think about. I'm sore, too. I LOVED IT!!! Heh heh heh...
Well, surfing is really really hard. I have lots of respect for the surfers now. Not that I didn't before, but like, yeah, wow. You have to have pretty tremendous upper body strength to pull yourself up to your knees as you rush about, and that's not even including all the paddling to get out to the waves in the first place. I mean, whoa, ouch, are my arms tired. Which is precisely why I shouldn't be going to karate, but, as am crazy karate junkie (got a copy of the white belt syllabus and am going to make a go of getting graded up to at least advanced white before I leave) am going to go anyway. Not just that, though, my hips hurt from jumping up on the board after being tossed off so many times, and my knees are wrecked. I've got bruises all over my left knee (though one was from whacking it into a table Saturday night). I only managed to get to my knees, but that was pretty good for my first and only 2-hour lesson. Yay!
I wanna go surfing again, but I'm gonna make it a Fiji or like Cairns thing because it's really too cold in Victoria. You can dive Victoria more easily because you spend less time in the water, have thicker wetsuits, more covered by the suit, and you swim the whole time as opposed to waiting for waves half in and half out of the water. I totally recommend surfing to EVERYONE, I mean, it's sooooo much fun. It's a really great hobby (dunno as I'll give it the credit of being a sport, though it is easily claimed to be exercise), plus there are lots of cute surfers out and about. Also, surfers aren't known for being brains which means if you've got a thing about being smarter than your partner, a surfer's a good partner to have, neh? Snicker. I loved it. Am terribly sore, yada yada, but wow!
*giggles mindlessly and plots next trip to the beach*
