First Night

Ahhh...I feel like I can breathe again, can exist again. This last week, when I've been commuting from home, I've felt rather zombified. Now, I wake up when I'd be leaving for the train at home, get out of bed when I would have been just boarding, leave the apartment around when I'd be arriving in the city, and I still get to work earlier than I did commuting from Westchester. I slept a sound eight hours, and it felt awesome. I woke up to Howard Stern and hit the nap function rather than waking to my cell phone buzzing every five minutes on snooze and my parents' oldies station.

Admittedly, part of the problem with my exhaustion was staying up until the same hours I would had I been in the city all along, but I got horribly addicted to my cross-stitching. I'm going to try and get pictures up as I progress along. I may have to snag Lisa's camera for some quick shots. No matter. The fact remains that I am once again in the city and thank God for it. During my tenure at home, we ate out every night but two, I got home too late to see my youngest sibling before 8 pm (after her dance lesson), our car was backed into by an ice cream truck that took off the license plate, and I woke up early on BOTH weekend days. Yuck.

In more important news, I SHOOK LEE BOLLINGER'S HAND!!!! Homecoming this weekend was more fun than it ought to have been given how unimportant football was to my collegiate career. However, when Lee Bollinger is standing inside the ticket gate because he didn't expect a bunch of rabid Lee-fans to come streaming at him, how can you resist? theKathy suggested not washing my hand. I settled for rubbing it all over myself but ultimately I have washed it--many times, actually. Columbia managed to eek out a loss to Princeton--it looked chancey there for a while, but the Lions, God bless 'em, they managed to lose. Well, when you miss a 20-yard field goal and 2 extra points and make every effort to appear to want to stop Princeton but let them get a first down when you had them at 4th and 6, that's bound to happen. Good game, was close, Lions sucked, that's about the long and short of it. The best part was the free stuff they were giving away so as to liquidate their CU250 celebration gear--i got a nice bag, another copy of that DVD, key chain, pens, magnets, and collectable alumni trading cards featuring, you guessed it, Alexander Hamilton (oh holy crap! fun fact from Homecoming: Aaron Burr went to Princeton. Princeton killed my school's greatest hero!!!).

I am so there next year. Pictures of me smiling like an eeeeeeeediot will be posted as soon as Elizabeth M sends them to me. I was standing next to Lee! I couldn't help it!
