I continue to rape my free account priveleges...expect to see this for THE MAY MOVIE, too.

[Poll #469999]

The last 12 hours of my birthday: I got some excellent yum-yum Korean food with [livejournal.com profile] earthrise and [livejournal.com profile] happyelfling, who were convinced to come along at the last minute in addition to Carrie, Lisa, and theKathy. Mmm the Mill--but is it just me or have their portions gotten smaller? Maybe I was just spoiled by that night at K-town when I got a plate of ChapChae that looked more like it would eat me than the other way around.

Man, class was boring. I dunno if people were being really kind or nuttin, but they were trying awfully hard to find something to salvage in one of the stories. The other was too short for much commentary. The teacher did offer to buy me a beer before we got started when she found out it was my birthday. I got out early, booked it for home, called BSD and Dana back, and entered the apartment to enjoy the rest of the evening.

Lisa arranged the margarita mix and nice Jose Quervo tequila for me, along with meticulously sliced limes and green--green!--salt, complete with the hat from Chevy's Andy got on his birthday, and we blended us up some margaritas. Mmm-mmm good. I talked to a couple of people, including my hit friend [livejournal.com profile] friendofsnarf and my sister (who I'd talked to all week, so the call was short). I should have talked to [livejournal.com profile] friendofsnarf more--I'll bug her later online. And, speaking of Lizzes, Liz M kindly called after wishing IM greetings, and she accused me of being drunk already. I wasn't drunk! I was high on life, friends, my birthday, and strawberry-kiwi sorbet at Ben and Jerrys!

Then came the gift opening. The first, smallest gift was a bit puzzling in the wrapper; it was Irish Spring soap. After all the time Lisa'd invested in getting me the following: three green mini-sharpies, green margarita salt, green tissue paper, and a green bag for it all to go in, I assumed the Irish Spring was part of that. Carrie insisted I open it. It was a sealed box, so what could it possibly....

WHY WAS THERE BACON IN THE SOAP!?!?!?!?

Ahem. Yes, she'd gotten me good. Thankfully, the bacon was cooked, but it was the funniest, most revolting, and just silly thing ever. She thought it was hilarious that I actually thought she'd gotten me Irish Spring soap because it was green. She obviously doesn't know my mother that well (as previous things this week have proved, too). After that, I got Dynasty Warriors 5 ::drools:: which I immediately fell upon--thank you [livejournal.com profile] bigscary, too; I played one round in musou mode with Lu Xun (see earlier fandom meme), and fell back upon the old ways of cursing like a mo-fo. I think I called Zhu Rong the 'c' word and threatened and/or crowed about how I was going to beat her because my character fought using his...uh, the other 'c' word.

Eugene thoughtfully got me a PS2 remote--which is handy because the most action the PS2 gets is from DVDs these days--he even 'fixed' it when I couldn't get the control to plug into it (Note to self: when it doesn't go in one way, try turning it upside and reinserting). He also picked up a Sin City book, which is, like the movie, gorgeous and ugly all at once. I'm about three chapters into "Hard Dame to Kill," pretty confused but liking it anyway. Top that off with the Hellsing mini-statue of Alucard (eheeeeeheee eeeeeeevil) and it was a hard night to beat. I'm still looking forward to Friday! So, be sure to tell me who's coming. I'm going to see (and this sounds ridiculos, i know) if Dallas BBQ will take a reservation. As such, I need numbers people!

See you then! ::hugs to all who've been soooooo wonderful this year--you know who you are::
