Thanks to one and all for the well-wishes and cheerings up. We picked up Wally yesterday to move him to another place to board. We're probably going to be able to take him home Friday, depending on how he does there. The vet at the new place (in Riverdale) is super friendly. It turns out that the vet from the emergency place actually stopped by to talk to him about our case, which is incredible of him. It must have been obvious that we were a little panicked and not sure about anything and might need talking down off precipices and such.

It was really sad to have Wally just sorta lazing in the cage, collar around his neck and catheter and all. The IV bandage on his paw was wrapped too tight and his paw looked really swollen, but the new vet promised to loosen it before they all left for the night. Which was awesome of them because due to an inordinately long check-out at the hospital, we were keeping the whole office late. (We were their last appointment and we were late on top.) The sticker shock for the board wasn't. After what we paid for emergency care, nothing could compare--not even the surgery he might need if this problem recurs would be as expensive as this trip to both places.

All in all, I'm confident that they're taking good care of him. I just have to see about refitting our place for him when he gets home. New food, water, loving, every good thing.
