No one believes me

Part of the continuing problem I have with our apartment's anything is that the super, the manager, and anyone they hire to work on the building never believes a word I say. It's worked out to a point where I, returning the favor, no longer believe anything they say.

( Case in point: today )

F'list, I ask you: do I have a lying face or something? I know I say a lot of stupid shit, but I don't lie very often. I'm actually not very good at it. So why doesn't anyone believe me when I tell them shit? Is it just because that's not what they want to hear?

Tourism promoters call them fairy towers, a plausible descriptor but not necessarily the first one that comes to mind.

I'm loving this book. After reading linaerys's rave about its language (it's incredibly poetic and beautiful), I couldn't resist. It's more interesting than that documentary show about life after people that I watched because of the use of current-world examples of post-human wastelands. I also like that a lot is left up to the imagination. Fascinating stuff.

Thinking thinking thinking

About every other month or so, I am prompted by some conversation or another to think back and try to list for myself all the Presidents of the United States. As those who have been unfortunate enough to be around me at the time this OCD-like behavior strikes, I cannot stop until I have listed as many as I know and then go find the usually three-four I am missing. It's usually a different set each time, too, since I tend to remember the ones I couldn't remember the last time.

The ones I forgot this time: Chester A Arthur, Willaim McKinley, and, uh, Abraham Lincoln. (Oh, and I never remember that Cleveland, in fact, counts twice. I remember him and I know he won two non-consecutive terms, just not that that counts towards 44.)
