Packing continues apace. As more and more of my things disappear into boxes, I become increasingly panicky for reasons not entirely unknown to me. ( I like my ordered little world. )
ANYWAY, as all that stressing under the cut proves, I need a distraction. So I'm finally working on a music meme that I spotted ages ago and acquired approval to steal from
six_demon_bag. Let's play!
Day 01 – A favorite song
I knew nothing about Elliott Smith going into college save that he'd written that song from Good Will Hunting. Then some of the upper classmen in my suite freshman year invited me to go to his concert at the Beacon Theater. Wanting, desperately, to be seen as cool, I immediately picked up Figure 8, and listened to it nonstop so as to be more familiar with his repertoire come concert-night. (Concert was all right, not terrible, not great.) His songs have waxed and waned for me since then, but this one remains a dear favorite that I can never turn off once that opening piano and guitar riff starts up. It's a perfect lure.
