Wooooot!

Went into the city today to hang with Kate before she has to off and go to the next country on her flight itinerary. Ran into Dan Wise on the way in, wished him luck with his NYC Teaching Fellows interview. Got into the city and did a quick run with Kate and her Dad to Niketown to try and find a replacement for a jacket she had.

Kate wanted to do the Empire State Building, which I've never done and it was her day, so I was all about that. Her Dad was really nice by absolutely refusing to let me pay for anything. I have a hard time accepting that kind of treatment, but he was really serious. Muchos fun going up to the top where it was finally cold. I can't believe I'm saying that, but Kate really did bring Melbourne's current weather up with her. It had to be 50 F most of the day.

Ooooooooh, note note note note! Walked behind guy en route to Empire State who looked suspiciously like the guy who plays Haldir in LOTR from the side. Dark eyebrows, the jowls, and, ugh, he had bleached blond stringy hair. He looked UNCANNILY like Haldir, I almost ran into him trying to peer over his shoulder to see. Never spoke, no clue. But I will assume that I'm correct. Celebrity sighting!

Pizza for dinner: I can't believe I ate the whole thing! Well, half of it. Sausage and chicken, half and half. Mmm-mmm good. I suggested they go out tomorrow if they want good pizza and get a white pizza or zita pizza. Then I had to *explain* what ziti was. That was totally unexpected. How does one describe ziti? Weird.

Yay for sales in Chinatown! Got that awesome Slayers wallscroll that BSD used to have up in the suite, seeing as it was $8. Kate got an Evangelion one, I got instructed to watch the series. Yay for glorious return to Midtown!!!! Kate reads Lenore!!!! Am soooo blown away because I was thinking of buying her a tpb for her christmas gift (burned her half an anime collection instead, ^.^)!!! Yay! She bought some issues for her friends. Me? Walked out with zero! Can't believe I pulled that off.

So sad having to go home, but Kate and her dad were off to the Lion King. Mr Kate's Dad is a nice guy, I mean, he wanted me to take a cab to Grand Central from Times Square (funny, because I know that walk so well I could pick out the Pronto's Pizza on 42nd street from the Empire State Building). I was going to take a *subway* and he was still like "are you sure?". I said I was going to stop by the bazarre for a watch. BAM! Kate and Dad ambush me with another gift. Soooooo nice of them! Very nice one. Kate's Dad said it was a pirate watch. My response: I love Pirates! His rebuttal: Not that kind of pirate. he he he It's a very nice watch.

Also, I was crazy today. Having gotten 4 hours of sleep will do that, especially when that's coupled with an early wake up to beat. Called myself an Insane Crazy Elf and promptly wrote it upside down on my hand. Must have been the slurpee and the sodas...and the iced tea...wow. Well, Kate said I was being like loopier than all get out and she's right. I wrote "looking 4 brains" on her hand to prove it, spoke far too loudly my intention to pat Viggo Mortensen on the head like Orlando Bloom did and how Carrie wants to pat Sir Ian's belly, and my opinion on slash, the sex appeal of various world leaders (Tony Blair, Junichiro Koizumi, UH HUH! Nuh-uh to Mexican President Vincente Fox, sorry). My excuse was I got to be a tourist for a day.

W00t!

Okay, that's enough. Must calm self down, need to calm down. Cool out, everyone just cool out.

COOL OUT!

"Kate reads Lenore!!!! "
Isn't Lenore a dead woman in "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe?

They should make a Tickle-Me Gandalf doll. I'd buy it.
