X-Men: The Last Stand

I have absolutely no idea what the shit is up with Fandango. Really. Yesterday, it told me the service fee was $2.00. Three days ago it was $0.50, and now it's $1.50. Uh, I guess, keep refreshing the page until you get the best fee?

I highly suggest an 8-8:15 pm meet-up time, with one contingent agreeing to meet and greet in the lobby, and a sizeable one upstairs in line to save us good seats. If anyone wants to do dinner aforehand, let's think of someplace other than that diner we went to last time. Even if it's just Wendy's.

Grrrr. You have to go and pick it up that cuts a shade too close for going to Liz's gig at 11:30. I haven't decided yet if I can make it to the movie.

Liz's "gig"? Is this what Lisa was talking about?

Also, 8:45pm listed time = 9:00pm start time at the latest. I seriously don't think a movie billeted as being an hour and forty-three minutes long will keep you too long to go to anywhere in Manhattan from that location in time for an 11:30 pm call. And the time had to be called as it was because I needed consensus three days back and no showtimes besides that had been added yet.

The movie's only an hour forty-three? Is it just me, or is that awfully short for a summer blockbuster? True, the first one was about that long, but the second was 2 hours fifteen. I felt it was bloated at that length, but that seems to be the trend. How odd.

Honestly, I expect this one just doesn't have enough to say to generate a longer film.

And most blockbusters are under two hours, if they do it right. There's a real economy of narrative and yet depth of emotion than can get through if you limit the bloat and expand the characterization. After about two hours, the thing just feels long.

I think I'm just expecting this one to feel bloated, whatever the length.

Whatever would give you that impression? The fact that they've throw in eleventy billion new characters while still trying to give prominence to their star(s) with the most demands and largest fan-bases? That the director did Rush Hour and those movies were nothing but annoyance and martial arts slammed together for hours?

Please be advised that the guy behind the counter yesterday said that the line for the movie starts at 7pm O_o Sadly he wasn't joking. Given that this looks to be quite the popular film, we may want a handful of people there every early to grab seats for the late comers (esp since unlike myself, many of you seem not to like being in the front few rows).
