I don't want to be starting anything, but look at this.

Wasn't Tony Snow saying just a few weeks ago that racism isn't such a problem any more in America? Blow hard.

And yes, I appreciate the irony of using a House and a House icon to talk about racism.

Huh? It's a new color of PSP and a silly over the top ad. Big whoop. Though you may want to make a Forman icon for such posts :)

"Over the top"?

There is a white woman beating on a black man. That is not just over the top.

I didn't really see it at first, like my brain couldn't make it out (or maybe the woman's hideous hair did something to my head). Then I really saw it and I couldn't believe anyone anywhere greenlit that poster.

Apologies. I just took a quick look because I'm at work. I thought the face was a PSP for some reason.

On the other hand--Sony's usually not that moronic. Sure this wasn't a
Photoshop?

Though I could be wrong, I do believe that's a black woman and not a black man. Though the shadowing in the image they use does make it a tricky call.

Holland only, and already pulled.

Some of the comments there are pretty funny, though.

I dunno. Their previous ads reeked a little of this kind of thing with cartoons recycling Stepin Fetchit routines...

Does that make it better, do you suppose? It's still terribly tasteless.

You're right, of course. This ad sucks. The last offensive Playstation ad was MUCH better!

SCE Europe is either full of idiots, or they just REALLY believe in the phrase, "There's no such thing as bad publicity."

There's a series of them, though. In the last one the black woman is on top.

AND, those aren't American ads.

This must be the case. No one could be that stupid.

Not particularly. Though if I wanted to channel my angry african-american side, you did leave yourself open to the "So you think we all look alike?" response. I was just saying ^_^

Of course the funny thing here is that you've fallen into their trap. As outraged as you may be, you are giving sony psp addition free "word of mouth" advertising by showing this ad to others. In essence, you've turned a few thousand dollar investment in an ad into a multi-million dollar ad blitz. So basically, you're just encouraging this type of ads in the future.

That's not true. If anything, this ad makes me sickened and less likely than ever to buy a PSP. I would discourage other people from supporting it. I would never encourage this kind of outrageous thinking. Passing it around to others, I want them to know the hideous thinking that went into it and not stand for it either.
