Oct. 29th, 2006 11:11 amSo much fun at the MoCCA party last night! I totally bothered just about everyone for photos because so many people did amazing costumes.
But first things first. For
saikogrrl and
neo_leviathan and all the rest of you lot downunder: You finally got me.
My absolute favorite and the most impressive by far was Two-Face. He left for another party before he could best costume over all, the stupid head. The best costume came down to a guy dressed as Kenny from South Park, which is terribly unfair as it's not a Saturday morning cartoon, and a girl I chatted up immediately because she was the first person to arrive in costume after us and she was dressed as Lois Lane from the Superman Adventures cartoon. She was actually worried she wouldn't be recognized and had a press pass with an animated series icon on it and everything. I went squeeee and everything, but they didn't give her the prize. For Kenny! For KENNY!?
Bigger disappointment still? Some girl came with the cheap-o Ricky's knock-off of a Rainbow Brite costume and totally got the girl in the amazing Patty O'Green costume (Look! She even had the band-aids and the Sprite and everything!) to enter the contest as a group. So she didn't win for her amazing costume; the G.I. Joe's did. What a waste. I was even madder when she showed me that her costume actually reverses to become a proper Rainbow Brite costume! I don't have a picture of that, but maaaaaan. Also, Princess Peach and Mario were robbed when Best Couple went to Archie and Jughead. Just goes to show--slashers always win.
I actually won a prize in the raffle! It's a Darth Maul pewter figure. Mario offered to trade me a Todd McFarlane toy for it, but I only accepted a trade if he'd fork over the V for Vendetta mask he won on top of his first win. He wouldn't, but he was a good sport and let me snap this cheeky picture. It wasn't the last photo op of the evening, either. I couldn't resist going up to some perfect strangers on the subway home because the girl had a great Mononoke mask. She did a great job with it, as it was obviously hand-made. I loved it to pieces. And, not to be rude, I took a picture of her boyfriend dressed as some Naruto character. They asked me if I knew Naruto and I confessed I didn't but that Princess Mononoke was like my favorite Miyazaki film, so I couldn't not take a picture.
Very fun night!
