WELCOME TO THE NEW PLACE!!!

It's been an exhausting weekend, what with toting heavy stuff down the stairs at my house, staying up till all hours to find, regroup, unpack, repack, pack in the first place my stuff, then clearing out the car of chairs so the furniture can fit, then (with much help from Lisa's folks and Andy, and my Dad and Devin) getting all upstairs and settled. I still can't believe we got that wall unit up here--that thing gets the axe when we move, no way are we moving it again unless it's in pieces. After all that, there was still more to do, more to buy, mostly, then setupsetupsetup. It's lucky that we moved in on the holiday weekend--the city's practically deserted, the streets are clear, and we found parking everyday.
When you walk in the front door, the bathroom door is immediately on your right (it has to be closed for you to get in in the first place). Walk a short and narrow hallway and you come out into the large room that we've tentatively subdivided into kitchen area/living room and dining area. The kitchen was just one small counter, fridge, sink and stove in a row with cabinets over and under, but Lisa went out for a rolling island that adds a counter in an L shape, 90 degrees out from the kitchen counter against the wall. As you walk in, with the door behind you, the counter is perpendicular to you on the right. Ahead is the couch bed for now, and the wall unit. The rolling counter sticks out as you move through the room to block off where the table is, complete with chairs and the AC.
Just a few steps past the table and you walk into a short grotto of rooms, each branch off from the end of the hall. Carrie, Lisa and I have divided rooms such that I have the middle-sized shaft room, Carrie has the largest room which faces the street, and Lisa has the smallest room which also faces the street. It would be nice to have a view, but it's a lot quieter on my side and this room is bigger than Lisa's, so I'm good with it. I'm also used to it after last semester at Columbia where my view wasn't any better. I've got a brick wall, too, which is odd, and I'm not entirely sure I like it (Carrie has one brick wall as well). There's brick for one wall in the bathroom, too, which is...industrial, but the rest of the space is black marbled tile, so I'm not complaining. And it's a large bathroom, full tub/shower combo, now decked out with Around the World shower curtain and an expandable shelving rod in one corner. It's all about space saving and adjustable stuffs.
Among the many, many things left to be done: arrange the living room furniture and set up the TV, video games, and cable (am waiting for Time Warner's call); fill bathroom with assorted girly products in the medicine cabinet; finish unpacking my crap (aka shifting junk from bins to drawers without really organizing); THROWING A PARTY (thought that last one would catch people's eye). Just depends on time and sanity between now and then.
