More happy hoo-ha news!

I am beginning to see how someone might (coughcough[livejournal.com profile] kent_allard_jrcoughcough) think all this stuff was related. First, the gyno, then a big new bed for me, and now I am going to get the HPV vaccine shot series starting this Friday. Does seem awful like I might be looking to slut around, I tells you what.

The great news is that the doctor's office checked and my insurance will cover the vaccine. Which is superb! That's near on to $500 I won't be spending to avoid hoo-ha cancer!

By the by, friendslist: I'm thinking of having my birthday party on April 6th, but that is, so the calendar informs me, Good Friday. If anyone isn't going to be available to par-tay that night (or that Saturday, haven't firmly set the plans here yet), let me know? I can probably bump back a week if I hafta.

I believe Jethrien and I have plans to go visit her folks for Easter weekend, which would start on Good Friday.

The weekend before, incidentally, is I-Con.

[identity profile] trinityvixen.livejournal.com 2007-03-13 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah right. Well, I don't think I'll be able to make I-con this year as I have to move furniture and that's the next weekend I am available to do so before I fly out/celebrate birthday.

Poo about the party stuffs. Will have to see how that goes yet.

There is a weekend between I-Con and the weekend of April 6th. I-con is March 23-25. The weekend of March 30-April 1 is apparently something at Smith called ConBust?

I have a friend visiting from Norway who I had planned to meet for dinner that night (possibly with [livejournal.com profile] feiran, but given enough notice (ideally in the next couple of days) I can see if she's able to reschedule.

April 6..... marked and noted in my calendar ^_^

Not only will I probably be in Florida, but -- Good Friday? I'm not very Christian but that still seems a little sacrilegious.

I will pour gingerale into a glass, pretend its champagne, and toast you from three states away :D

Perhaps more worrisomely, that's during Pesach, so I (and any other JewFriends you might have) would be barred from a significant number of party foods and drinks.

Also, not, strictly, Hoo-Ha cancer -- adjacent-to-Hoo-Ha cancer.

I am sad that the HPV vaccine came out after I was already too old to get it. :(

As for the birthday party, [livejournal.com profile] jlc and I will be in Dallas April 6-8, and we would be sad to miss partying w/ you!

[identity profile] trinityvixen.livejournal.com 2007-03-13 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm hearing a lot of "I'll be out of town" excuses being made, so maybe I'll spend that weekend upstate with family and party with friends the weekend after. We'll see.

[identity profile] shell524.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
I empathize. My birthday falls the during the week before Memorial Day weekend and people are always busy or out of town whenever I try to plan to do anything.

[identity profile] trinityvixen.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Sucks, don't it? This happens only ever handful of years or so, my birthday being close to or on Easter weekend. It's just suckier this year for being actually on a Friday and the holiday weekend. Because--Friday! Can party! No work the next day!

Man. I can't make a comment here that won't offend your readers, even though I know you'd find it hilarious, regarding people who can't make it for one reason or another or yet another.

Anyway, I can be there regardless of when you have it.

Also, since I'm clearly looking to slut around: what be this vaccine, and why would you get it if you're not at particular risk for HPV?

[identity profile] trinityvixen.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
It's just not a bad idea to get it, seeing as a lot of guys are, without having genital warts, carriers of HPV. There's no reason not to get it if you're within the age bracket. At worst, you get some shots and spend a little money. At best, it protects you against some 70-80% of the viruses that can cause cervical cancer.

Alas, you are past the age limit, but you can totally ask your doctor. You can still get it, I believe, just that it hasn't been tested effectiveness-wise, past woman age 26.

[identity profile] hslayer.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I find the whole age limit based on they've-only-bothered-to-test-on-26-or-younger thing absurd. I know they want to play it safe and not have some octogenarian's head explode after getting it, but jeez.

[identity profile] linaerys.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Either night is good for me. Yay partay.

[identity profile] trinityvixen.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay partay! Of course, it's looking like it will happen the week after at the rate people are dropping out. Stupid holy days!

[identity profile] linaerys.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Bleah! We should drink anyway. Pre-party party. I'm gone April 14-15, but I could make it on the Friday of that weekend.

[identity profile] trinityvixen.livejournal.com 2007-03-15 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I am thinking of doing a dinner at least on my birthday. Since so many will be out of town, it will be small, but by God, there shall be drinking. I can't turn a quarter of a century sober.
