Should I be sad?

I really celebrated this turn for LOST, and I stand by my original sentiment, but I am still a little upset, I'm not gonna lie. Because I was never as crazy about LOST as I've been for BSG. And I feel like this is more a reflection of poor ratings than to say the show really needed to end after four seasons (whereas I believe the creators of LOST had about as many seasons in mind as they have ended up getting).

Well, I guess how I feel will depend on how season four turns out. Cylons, man. They have a plan, they tell us. I say: "You better."

Well, I don't know. Season 5 is about where most shows need to end, and it starts to show by then. So if they can do a nice, well-scripted season 4, with a satisfying conclusion, I won't be TOO sad. I wish Angel had had a sixth season, but that's only because it took until season 5 to really even get good.

What was said about Lost? I missed that one, I think. Is this coming season the last?

No, they're gonna be on the air until 2010. They get six seasons. This was announced a few weeks ago because the makers were like "We need to have a set number of episodes so we can unspool our mythology in a timely fashion." They got it.

Ahh. I vaguely remember something like that. That's good, a set number of seasons and then no more, but no less. I sort of would've liked BSG to go to five, for my own selfish reasons, but eh. We'll see. I won't believe it's the last season til the last ep airs.

With LOST, they broke up momentum trying to cram more episodes than they had into the story. BSG is suffering the same fate (I seriously think everything wrong about the last two seasons could have been fixed by shortening the seasons to 13 episodes like the first season was, thereby cutting out the crap). BSG, though, has less of a sense of direction to its narrative than the LOST guys have managed to give their show, so giving them a timeframe to work it out in makes sense. With BSG's more open narrative, it's kinda sad to think the rest of all the stories we could tell in the universe will end next year.

Still, it's probably for the best. Why do you want it to go for five seasons? What does "for my own selfish reasons" mean? This a milliways thing?
