The 23rd Street Clearview Cinemas is doing "A Tribute to the 80s" and this Thursday, they are showing The Breakfast Club. It's only $6.50, and it seems like it would be super fun to go. Especially since somebody (::coughcough[livejournal.com profile] feirancough::) has never seen the movie.

Anyone else game?

Ooh, and, August 30th they're showing Mannequin! Guilty 80s pleasure! How can you resist? Show times for all the movies are at 7 or 10 pm leaving time to either grab a nice dinner aforehand or do so after (since none of these seem to last longer than an hour and a half). Come on, I bet y'all really want to come!

bad feiran!

How can you never have seen Breakfast Club??!!

That's my finest piece of work. (i.e. everyone says I look like Emilio in that movie).

ridiculous. Would soooo go to Mannequin if I was remotely near NYC, however Honolulu is pretty far.

Hey, there's no "these movies are terrible but I'll come along anyway to hang out" option.

You do look like him kinda. Except he's way scrawnier since he's maybe 5'7" and weighs less than I do.

I can't believe she hadn't seen it either. It's one of those ones that you can't remember ever having lived not having seen it. It's just...there. More so than any of the 80s movies.

Maybe next time you're around in the NYC, I will sniff out what other previous-run movies they're playing. I definitely think it's going to be pink-tickling to see both of these on a big screen.

Just say you'll come along and voice your objections day-of, silly.

Also, how can you say The Breakfast Club is bad? Shame on you!

Speaking of the 80s, I finally saw Transformers tonight, and I'm sorry to say that it was a deeply stupid movie... and kind of boring. I don't know how you could sit through it twice! :(

It's totally stupid! And overlong! But it still had transforming robots, and really, that was my threshhold for enjoying the movie.

That's true. It did have transforming robots. I can't argue with that. There were a few good moments in the movie, but alas, the transforming robots didn't satisfy me.

In other news, I adored Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for the most part--fizzled a little near the end for me, but overall Burton got a lot of it right.

I'm just too critical, aren't I?

Let me know if you want to borrow Beauty and the Beast on DVD or The Lion King on...er, laserdisc.

laughs

I think I already borrowed the former from you, and I think I can live without the laser disc of the latter and all that playing around with that would entail. Honestly, this is but one more reason to complain about something that sucks.

I'm glad you liked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! I really loved it and felt that it really touched well on the spirit of the book while completely going in new directions at the same time. Yeah, there was some unnecessary Spielberg-ization there to the end, but otherwise, lots of fun.

*is ashamed*

But now I'm being dragged, so you both win, in the end. :P

Breakfast Club is a genuinely good movie. You couldn't make me watch Mannequin again with a gun to my head.

I'd be vaguely interested in the 7pm Breakfast Club, but given Jethrien's late nights at work, I don't think it's going to be feasible.

And 10pm shows? On a work night? Are you mad?

If Jamie and I aren't broke and/or exhausted after going to TMBG on Wednesday, I (at least) would be interested in hanging out and seeing Breakfast Club on Thursday. Mannequin, though? Nope. Also it's the day before we leave for Dallas. Packing should happen that evening. :)

The movies are only an hour and a half! You'd be home by 12:30 at the latest, given how close the theater is to the PATH.

Not Mannequin? For shame! You're missing out. However, packing is a reasonable excuse, I suppose.

Home at 12:30, asleep by 1:00...up at 6:15. Five hours of sleep do not make for a good and productive Friday.
