I guess this explains why SuperHeroHype is down...

Hat tip to [livejournal.com profile] viridian for the link (and [livejournal.com profile] feiran for breaking the story to me): Heath Ledger, we hardly knew ye. Wow. I just...wow. [livejournal.com profile] feiran pointed out that he's all of two years older than we are. And he has a little baby. ::wants to cry::

The Dark Knight will still happen, apparently, which is good, but weeeeird. I guess I'll know how people felt going to see The Crow after Brandon Lee's spectacular, senseless death.

It's weirder still for the fact that Brad Renfro died last week, also with heavy hinting that he might have had a drug-related death. I broke that story to my former roommate, who bemoaned the loss of another former teen idol (she's still grieving for Jonathan Brandis). I wonder how she'll take this.

(Incidentally, this is making for a great argument for Elektra complexes. Having crushes on older stars makes more sense--hell, look at Robert Downey Jr. He's rolled more drugs than a pharmceutical factory--because they've at least made their drug addictions compatible with living. Sigh.)

I immediately thought of The Crow, as well.

Still speechless, on the whole. I thought it had to be a hoax at first - kept checking the site I was on to make sure it was legit.

Just... dude.

I didn't believe it either. It was just mind-bogglingly stupid. No one with that much to live for--forget fame, forget money, he has a baby girl--who is that young should be dead. And drugs? My god, will the question ever NOT be whether this was an OD or a suicide?

God, don't want to process this. I just don't.

Apparently he was found in Mary Kate Olsen's apartment, while she was in California, and later reports are pointing toward suicide. :(

Not true, retracted. He was found at his own apartment in NYC.

Well, that's less weird, I guess. :/

The location is less important than the state in which he was discovered. This is going to end up some Hollywood mystery that gets examined on E! or some fucking bullshit. God.

I actually read more speculation that it might've been a pure accident - one report says they were just sleeping pills and that he'd been sick and was just trying to get to sleep. That's more tragic in my mind than either possible suicide or overdose. :(

Younger than me. :/

We are all too young to be dead. Not yet.

What was far creepier, for me, was seeing Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story literally days after Brandon Lee died. Because, if you haven't seen it, Dragon is about Bruce Lee and the demon he faces, which has been terrorizing the males of his bloodline for generations. At the end Bruce Lee defeats it and tells his son (Brandon) that their family is safe at last. Then a caption explains that Bruce Lee was killed during filming a short time later. And my friend and I, sitting there knowing Brandon had just died as well, got chills up our spines.

It is horribly sad about Heath Ledger, though. It's always sad when someone dies, esp. someone talented with a promising career ahead of them, and even moreso someone with young children.

Yikes, that's creepy.

The kid definitely gets to me. Kids do in general--because they should live long enough to be in a position where they can know their parents and love them and have all the time in the world to say goodbye when they have to.
