I dreamt that I was so in love with something about the Blu-Ray edition of season one of Heroes that I stood around in Best Buy trying to calculate whether I could afford to buy a Blu-Ray player just to watch it. Some rational part of me railed against the expense and scoffed at the idea that Heroes was worth dropping that much money ever, let alone now-now-now.

It's sad when my dreams only recapitulate real-life circumstances. Minus Blu-Ray, I can't tell how many times I've gone into a Best Buy and had to argue myself out of unnecessary expenses.

I have solved this by a) not going into Best Buy unless for a specific purchase, and even then when I didn't have tome to loiter and b) getting Netflix. Netflix has solved my "what should I do tonight, I know, I'll go to Best Buy and find something" problem. But I feel your pain. I have in the past contemplated buying a PAL VCR or a region unlocked DVD player just for one show.

I have that problem, occasionally, with Amazon.com. I'll want to buy six seasons of this or that show, or three or four new video games, or a pile of new novels, with no real justification and a stack of unwatched/unplayed/unread ones on the shelf.

In November, I bought 7 new games (mostly used PS2 stuff) and I got 6 more for Christmas (mostly DS games). It's almost March, and I've played only 5 out of those 13, but that doesn't seem to stop me from looking at what else I get get cheap used...

See, I try to avoid Best Buy like whoa, but I'm also a cheap bastard and I'll go get the in-store stuff when I buy something online as a deal. And then I have to wander to the back of the store to get it (a feature of the store which I'm sure is deliberate).

Yes, Netflix helps, but sometimes you just can't resist something like, say, The Wedding Singer when it's only $5...

Ugh, I'm terrible about games. I bought bunches this summer that are still largely untouched. Or, worse, started but abandoned, meaning I'll just have to start them from the beginning again. I do that with books, too, damn it. But yeah, I'm also hiding from GameStops now.

Amazon is the worst for books and, bizarrely, kitty supplies. Kitty stuff is really expensive in stores, so I went online to find things like furniture and de-shedding tools and clicked for hours. I restrained myself to necessities, but it's so easy to go "Ooh, I bet they could use this, that, etc." God help me, I love to spoil them.
