I HAVE RETURNED!

Kinda like the king, only not male and not royal. So, in fact, in no way like the king. Oh well.

Hawai'i was awesome, obviously. I dove four times and it's amazing how that never, ever gets old. I was a bit terrified the night before my first diving day since it had been so long since my last. Nope, just like riding a bike. I saw turtles! I even saw (from the boat) humpback whales and dolphins. So beautiful I nearly cried. Hiked a little and ate a ton. (I am now, no joke, like ten pounds heavier.)

Alas, it is back to work tomorrow. And back to work in a major way, since I have two papers to do, a surprise party to attend, my last class, and the May Movie to plan.

Ooh, May Movie. Must get on that.

Diving

Good to hear it was easy to get back into it. I'm going in June for the first time in several years, and I'm a little nervous.

I think you'll be just fine. If you're going on one of these tours where they expect people to be rusty (or at least operating on vacation time), they'll help with the gear. Everything else will just fall back into place.

I'm not quite sure what kind of outfit I'll be going with. I'm going to Taiwan, which is supposed to have great diving. I just figured as long as I'm there, I shouldn't waste the opportunity.

Incidentally, do you know if it's usually possible to rent all the gear that's usually considered personal? Virginia wants to go too, but doesn't have the equipment.

I'm pretty sure most places will rent to you. Just be careful, outside of the first world countries especially, that it's GOOD gear. But I've never not been able to get gear if I needed. (Not always free, mind, but you should be able to pay extra and get kitted out. Not worth taking all the gear to my mind, especially as the airlines are starting to charge for a second checked bag.)

Taiwan! Talk to [livejournal.com profile] wellgull, he lived there for a summer and has been dying to move back. He can give you all sorts of info about what to do there. :)

I'm going there for a wedding. Virginia's brother is getting married to a Taiwanese woman. That will take up a couple days. I'm sure she'll have some suggestions, but I should probably talk to someone else too. What's his contact info.

YAY.

Welcome back! Battlestar's on the VCR, kitties are fed as of yesterday and scooped as of the day before. Back tomorrow night, late. Glad to hear the vacation rocked some proverbial sock. :)

[identity profile] trinityvixen.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Very well done, it was all clean n'shit. Plus the kitties were all over me when I got back since they'd been alone, which is a bonus.

I was good, too. I did bills first, THEN watched BSG.

Sounds like an awesome trip! Glad to hear you had fun - and turtles and dolphins and whales? So cool! :)

[identity profile] trinityvixen.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Muchos fun. Too much, in fact. I'll need a serious diet after this.

But yes, sea animals are way cooler than land ones. Waaaay cooler.

Cool, welcome back and glad you had such a good time.
And yes, May Movie.

YAY! And I'm glad to be back, too, in a way. I miss the fun of Hawai'i, but New York is still home.

[identity profile] moonlightalice.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG ICON KILLS ME WITH CUTE

[identity profile] umeyard.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you :) his name is Sylar
he is my baby boy

[identity profile] trinityvixen.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
I keep telling people that sharkies are puppies. D's response was, "That's a big puppy." Then I said, "You're gonna need a bigger doghouse." There was laughter.

Miss ya too. I'll email my address to you or shoot it over on GChat when I see you.

[identity profile] umeyard.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Got your address! Its a big puppy...he is going to have to get a real creative doghouse to keep one in Reno :P

You know if you ever want to come to Chicago you are always welcome here whenever with free crash space and tour guide :)

and they are puppies...silly D. I keep trying to tell people that too, also tried to explain more people get injured with dog attacks then shark attacks...

Also Sylar is still tiny and skinny little kitten, once he gets bigger will send you picture of him in his fancy collar you made him :) He is the most neurotic kitten even. Likes to eat neosporin tubes, loves to wake up guys who are sleeping by licking their armpits, favorite toy is Bella's tail (the other cat), and loves to play in water (Fastest way to find him turn on a sink, shower, or washing machine and he comes running)...yeah he is not the brightest of the kittens, but he makes me laugh...

[identity profile] trinityvixen.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure I'll get out to Chicago again. Discounting stop overs in O'Hare, I've not been there since before I went to college.

Awww, all kittens are stupid and do silly things. It's what makes them so cute! I'm amazed that you can keep yours svelte, though. Mine are total hogs.

[identity profile] umeyard.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
lol. I would prefer him to be a total hog. He is just a very think long kitty. He looks all cute and kitten sized but think his father must have been a slinky or something because he can go ferret sized in .032 seconds. Just assume that if something that 2" if clearance he can fit in there....this makes it fun when he decides to play the on top of the fridge but wedged under the cabinet game....

again not the brightest of kittens
