The pregnant man has a little baby girl!

I find this adorable and wonderful. Full proof that people with alternative sexualities aren't inhuman or ungodly or whatever bullshit conservatives would have you believe. It's especially heartening after the recent murders of a few trans individuals. We should be so lucky that we have more babies than bodies whenever transgender people are brought up in the news.

This case has fascinated me in a way that proves that, for all that I would never indulge, I do still find babies kinda cute. My brother-in-law (who, incidentally, lives in the same town as the formerly-pregnant man) scoffed at the media declaring that there was a pregnant man. Obviously, the polite thing to do is call this biologically female human being a man if s/he goes through the effort to have any degree of sex reassignment, but he draws the line at biology.

Well, I am a biologist, and I say PHOEY on biology. I say you make your own identity. (I, for instance, have made my identity as a frequently cranky, possibly manic-depressive movie buff with a tendency for hormonal spikes in the face of fictional murderers, if my LJ is any indication.)

Aside from the manic-depressive bit, which part isn't true? :)

Are you kidding? I used to worry about people reading my old diaries because I only ever wrote in them when I was pissed off, really excited, or terribly moody. Looking at my LJ, that's pretty much still true. (The only difference? I've lost shame.)

I love this. I really, really do. If only all births could be planned so lovingly.
