Conspiracy!

Fox just wants tit-for-tat, not box office gross percentages on Watchmen!

Yeah, right. They're really just trying to get the 1960s Batman television series onto DVD with this lawsuit. The lawsuit which will net them, oh, let's be conservative here, roughly a billion times more monies if they take percentage of profits.

This conspiracy theory gets a great big :::pppphhhbbbbttt:::

Much is explained.

Makes a lot more sense now.

GIVE US BATMAN, OR WATCHMEN GETS IT!

This sort of deal gets made more than you'd think (Apropos: Gaiman v. McFarlane, or whoever the actual names they were under in that suit)

No, I know it does. But there's no way that Fox is just in it for Batman. They're in it for money. The most money is in taking off the top of the grosses for Watchmen because they have put out no money for it and would just get money back. With the Batman DVDs, they'd still have to buy up rights to put it on DVD and produce it. Maybe Batman will be part of it, but I bet they still take something off the back end.

Yeah, maybe. This article goes a little more in-depth on the issues involved with the Batman rights: http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Batman-Watchmen-Batman-Deal-Reported/10573

Much better researched, thanks.

Now I'm imagining a "sixties campy" Watchmen, with Adam West as Night Owl, Victor Buono as Ozymandias, Cesar Romero as the Comedian, Burgess Meredith as Rorschach, and Urtha Kitt as Silk Spectre.
