What is it about new video games that just make me want to go back and play old video games?

Case in point: a next-gen Aliens Vs. Predator game. Waaaaants it, precious.

But more than that? I want to go back to my old computer game (the one that lead to THE GREATEST GAMING STORY OF MY LIFE) and go tail-whip me some bitches. I hope this new game does as right by the Aliens as they seem to be doing by the Predator...

This is not the greatest gaming story of your life. No, this is just a tribute.

I applaud the reference, but it truly was the greatest gaming story of my life. Until such time as I miraculously pull of anything half so impressive, that is.

The only Alien v Predator game I played (and heard of, actually) was a Capcom arcade game that played (and looked) a lot like Street Fighter. And you couldn't be aliens, sadly, only human badasses or Predators.

Anyway, the greatest gaming story of your life was amazing.

And I really liked the AvP movie as well! Or rather, there were parts of the AvP movie I liked, the the lead girl and how she was honored as one of the Predator warriors. I hunted down the AvP comic after that movie (which the movie is loooooosely based on) and if you dig Predator stories, it's quite good. The basic premise is the same except that it takes place in the future, on some other planet (which I actually liked better and why didn't the movie do that again?). And there's a slight difference to what happens to the woman warrior, in the end. But it's so cool though. So so cool.

I didn't know there was an arcade game! Oh man, gotta find an emulator for that...

I am glad someone else liked the premise of the AvP movie. I thought execution was lacking in some ways, but it's not a terrible idea. I've read some of the comics, but not the one that the movie seems most dependent on, so I'll have to investigate that. Thanks for the heads up!

Apparently the home console version of the Capcom AvP game was on an Atari Jaguar. Holy wow.
