WIN: Buffy stakes Edward Cullen. Fuck yes.

I'd like to know, from those who are in the know about this: are these clips from Twilight...representative of the movie? Because there is no way in hell I would ever be able to sit and watch this without wanting to punch myself in the face until the physical misery overwhelms the spiritual one I would be suffering from that movie.

LOSE: $25 is not a good deal.

Even now, when I don't play the PS2, like, ever, it's still worth ten times as much as that. This is an insult! An insult!

YES. If you do see it, I recommend doing what I did and drink heavily beforehand. Then you will laugh like a maniac when Edward EMOTIFIES instead of wanting to throttle someone. Or in addition to wanting to throttle someone.

I don't even know if I could stand it. I almost turned this video off half-way through, and it took the piss out of Twilight for me...

That was awesome!
And yes, that is exactly what the movie is like. All of it. It's horrible. I can only barely justify the memory of seeing it by reminding myself that I did it for work reasons--I essentially got paid to watch it, and I'm still not sure it was worth it.

HOMG that first is brilliant. And yes, that is pretty representative of Twilight. Or actually, no. That's the good part of Twilight, cause that's just Edward. Wait till you see Bella...

The deal's actually $25 above the value of the PS2. However, the price they're giving is about $20 for a PS2 with light wear, original cables and controllers but no original box and manual, and $45 is still a lose.

...$20 for a PS2? I got offered $30 for my NES!

HOMG. Whoever edited that video together deserves untold amounts of kudos. The timing of the facial expressions and Buffy comments made it hard to keep control at work. FTMFW!

I cannot fathom what it is about the whole thing that attracts anything but contempt and disdain. I keep being told by my Twi-hard sister that having read excerpts of the book, seen bits of the movie, and read reviews and meta about it doesn't mean I'm informed and that I'm being mislead.

I say, I see what I see, girlfriend, and I know better than to waste my time any more than I have.

Truly, this series is wasted on me. I read a link from one of the comments on that thread about the psychology of vampires and how you could make Twilight out to be a lot more subversively sexual than it knows its being. Not me, sister. I have trouble attributing subversiveness to anything half so insipid. Plus, knowing that it hasn't got the depth a puddle would envy helps put the kibosh on trying to read anything more into it.

$45. Ridiculous. Given the amount I've spent on a PS2, in games and hardware, I am insulted by that offer.

It's funny because I was having a hard time remembering Buffy--her, not the show--ever being so goddamned awesome. Seriously, the Buffy I remember is tainted by the end of the series and the melodrama. But, wow, yeah, she was capable of being majorly awesome.

I've never actually seen the final seasons - stopped right before the end of S4. So maybe that explains things? Heh. I heard the series got hairy later on, and I was so in love with it up to that point I didn't want to lose that feeling. So I contented myself with skipping ahead to "Once More, With Feeling" and leaving it at that. I'm sure I'll finish it all someday, but I like being able to put some distance and time between the the two major halves of the show. (I did the same thing with Dark Angel's two seasons.)

I got into a conversation about Joss Whedon's work with a friend, wherein I argued a recently-realized revelation that his work never ends well as regards little things, like, you know, feminism. He tries, but it's a downhill slope after a certain point. Buffy was a great show when it was set in high school--the allegories all worked, the humor was fresh. The first college year was rough and uneven, and it showed that Whedon was being pulled in two directions at once (what with working on Angel). After that, it's all just haphazardness with moments of clarity and cohesion, but a lot of Buffy's independence, depth, and relatability were lacking. It became too much about the monsters and not enough about real life, and the effort to have a strong, centered heroine seemed too much for the show.

I'm dying to do a rewatch, at least of seasons 1-3. I might follow your example and keep the rest of the series for a much later time.

You need to watch the twilight parody to katy perry's hot n cold. It is hilarious! This group of teenagers do this bollywoodish dance thing and take the piss out of th movie. Also it shows bella with a damn backbone. Just search yotube for hillywood twilight parody.

You see, I'm almost afraid to get into it any more than I have with this parody in particular. I don't want to be exposed to any stupid Twilight bullshit any more than I absolutely have to by pop cultural osmosis. Not even in parody. It's really not funny. I remember people were touting this Santa Clause-Twilight parody video, and I couldn't watch it, much less enjoy it for all that it mocked all things Stephanie Meyer. It's just...No. I draw the line!

lol, Twilight is pretty much just exactly like that, yes.

I've watched it four times. :D

Look, I mocked you when you went to see The Covenant in theaters, but I understood why. The manflesh was on display, and it was gayer than a three-dollar-bill. And maybe I can understand seeing Twilight--once--if you somehow missed any previews where you saw any of this bullshit on display.

But watching this garbage FOUR TIMES makes me seriously question whether you've been replaced by a pod person. Don't take it personally if I throw weed-killer on you next time we hang out...

You know that scene where Dean goes to see Bobby after clawing his way out of Hell? And Bobby subjects him to every last check against evil ever? Yeah, that's what you're getting for this.
