I guess the fandom was so happy that the creators were so aware of them that it overrode any sense of outrage that they were being portrayed in less than flattering lights? Or the meta narrative and textual treatment of fans pissed people off so much they stopped watching the show. Like me. At this point, probably the people who that drove into rages aren't watching anymore.
