A few things of note
Jun. 13th, 2005 04:09 pmIt's okay to slam people on the internet who make a point to pick fights with you if they come to the battle unprepared. In a battle of wits, I am fairly well armed, and sixteen year old boys are not. However, it is not okay to then track down other things they've written and attack them for the generally poor quality of those stories just because they really, really suck at the one you hated. Even if the other stories include one in your favorite fandom. Just don't read it. Just don't read it. Just don't read it.
Music Meme
1. Total number of records I own on CD (or vinyl or cassette):
Uh...Well, I know I have two 96-CD cases filled, but that includes the booklets and some two-disc collections with no booklets. So, average those out to 100. Plus a few scattered between various other holders, another 50. On tape, 25-30. Somewhere close to 200. Someday, in a fit of obsessive cataloguing, I'll number them all (and I will, too; I once made a book devoted to the number of times, where/when/etc I saw movies--and that wasn't even useful).
2. Total volume of music files on my computer:
Tricky. Very tricky. I have something like 12-13 GB worth of music. I'd estimate fully 500 MB of that to be repeats, multiple versions of one song, bad recordings I haven't quite weeded out, that sort of thing. Another 5 GB of it is taken from my CDs. The rest comes from downloading, ripping friends' CDs...uh, I dunno where else, but there you go. I have a lot of music, much of which, as I discover with my iPod set to Shuffle, I have never listened to. Anyone want all of Pearl Jam?
Oh wait, scratch that. The iPod says I've got 17 GB of music. That can't be right....unless the 12-13 was before I added the 5 GB from my CDs...oops.
3. The last record I bought:
Tie for NIN's "With Teeth" and Garbage "Bleed Like Me" (at least, I think that's the name of the Garbage one, I haven't listened to it yet). It's been a while since I bought an album, with only Green Day's "American Idiot" otherwise coming to mind.
4. The last record listened to / song playing now:
::sets iPod to Shuffle:: I was listening to songs on random and don't remember which it was, so what is it now? Apparently, "Breathe" by The Prodigy. Ooh, good one.
5. Five records that I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me (either singles or albums):
It's been a while since I had an album I loved start to finish, which is usually what I term an album that's meant a lot to me, but here are the classics:
NIN "The Fragile" (both discs are quality)
Depeche Mode "Exciter"
Our Lady Peace "Clumsy"
Garbage "Version 2.0" and "Garbage" (very different from one another, but inseparably Garbage either way; those are not your mother's guitar riffs)
Stone Temple Pilots "Purple" (12 Gracious Melodies!)
