I had a dream about Stargate last night. I blame this on [livejournal.com profile] ivy03 mentioning it here and there over the past few days and my latent but not-powerful-enough-to-pursue interest in seeing the television show. Mostly, the dream was spawned out of sheer jealousy that some no-named actress (okay, I know, she has a name, but she's really not that famous) got to make out with James Spader. The man is a cinema slut, he makes out with every woman in like every film he's in, but this really bugs me because he was so nice in Stargate, as opposed to sleazy/psychotic James Spader in everything else. No bony hussy gets to glomp sweet!Spader while I'm around!

No, I don't remember the dream, but I do remember James Spader having very fluffy hair and being terribly upset at one point, presumably because Kurt Russell was lurking around or something.

This hallucinatory dream about a fandom I don't watch/read/keep up with is probably thanks to the Texas-sized margarita I had last night. Once again, Dallas BBQ to the rescue. The drinks there are the perfect size, as Lisa's boyfriend Andy started babbling at one point on our way home: it's enough to get you really buzzed--like kinda numb in the extremeties buzzed--but not drunk. We walked back from the restaurant to walk off the worst of it (and to save me the subway fare and burn off the calories, though I didn't mention those potential benefits when I proposed the walk), and theKathy played some Eternal Darkness from the beginning ('cause [livejournal.com profile] feiran's memory card got wiped by accident).

I fell asleep at some point in there, after the roommate couch-spooning (not drunk!), Lisa's China pictures slideshow (ooh, pretty rooves), giving Lisa a wedgie (I owe her another pair of underwear), and having my feet admired by my roommates (still not drunk! well, I don't think they were). Falling asleep is why I like Dallas BBQ--I needed to be put down earlier than I've been going to bed, and since I've been sleeping fitfully anyway (vacation excitement!), alcohol's effects on my sleep cycle weren't any harsher than what's been my usual of late. I went to bed at midnight and got two more hours of sleep as a result. I'll still be yawning through my day today, but after the snoozer that was yesterday, I think I'll manage.

Between you and Eugene, I'm never going to get a single solitary second to do anything else. I'm also probably not going to sleep well again for years. Years! If I get a Netflix account, I'll just be forced to watch stuff to make it a bargain forever and ever. I wonder if I can even fit the envelope in our mailbox...It's a very small mailbox....

Jobs totally need to allow naptime. I mean, they understand we need to eat, and allow lunchtime. Sleep is just as important! I need a nap, too....

Somehow, I don't think my boss would be so forgiving of a nap in the middle of the day, though I frequently take one as a result of the dead-boring stuff I'm reading...

Sleep on your own time, or not at all. I went to bed at 5am and you don't see me complaining.

I was finishing revisions on an old story so I could submit it to Interzone today. They were accepting e-mailed submissions in August; if I had missed the deadline I would have had to snail mail the manuscript to the UK.

"...you don't see me complaining."

Dude, you should try it. It's totally sweet.

Hey, my boss will go four whole days without sleep, and expects us to follow his example.

Why? Because he's a moron, that's why.

He complains aplenty, too, especially when you ask him what to do. "I don't know," he'll say, "I haven't slept for three days." "OK, I guess I'll pull our policy out of my ass, then. Thanks, big guy!" Goddam it, grumble snarl...
