One - The Return of the Living Dead Part 5: Rave to the Grave has been out for a month on limited release. Why wasn't I informed?
Two - Rotten Tomatoes' preview of Winter movies calls January the dumping ground of cinema and then follows that up with a "By the way, that's when the Uwe Boll adaptation of BloodRayne comes out." Followed thereafter by "Oh yeah, and an Underworld sequel. Have fun at the cinema of the suck (literally, I guess), numbnuts!"
ETA: Now that I've seen the trailer for Underworld: Evolution, I am almost at a loss to say whether or not it is going to be better or worse than Bloodrayne. That's how bad the trailer makes it look. I'm having Van Helsing flashbacks at the talk of a 'new race' of CGI flying vampire-things. Also, not that I like the guy or anything, but Scott Speedman's character is being killed off in the first five minutes, isn't he? He's not-in-the-trailer-but-in-the-credits guy. No shots of Blue-boy the were-vamp, and the only time he seems to interact with Kate Beckinsale at all is in the obligatory sequel gratuitous nudity scene. The director must be tetchy about his woman romancing Whisper-y Boy.
Three - Someone explain to me the proliferation of "Rayne" fics in the Firefly 'verse, please? I may go squick at the CSI, but I get it. I may be a canon-pairing kind of girl, it's true, but tell me why people think Jayne and River would make a good couple? Aside from the fact that the actors are roughly 20 years apart (no barrier to true love anymore, thanks to you, TomKat!), is there anything on- or off-screen that suggests they would have the TWU WUB together?
Four - GAFF forums actually have incredibly smart conversations. There was a discussion on whether or not to apply our universe's physics to another's and words like "quarks," "gravitrons," "Joules," and a hell of a lot of 'constants' got thrown in. Madness, but in that great geeky way that I love it. Also, sign the petition to ban the 7th Harry Potter book unless J.K. Rowling revises her disturbing Ron/Hermione shippiness in book six! Can't you see Harry and Hermione are the OTP there????? (note: I use five "?" to connote sarcasm here--that's one of the GA things parodied on GAFF forums: the stupid fans)
Five: I'm getting Dallas BBQ tonight. After going to the movies yesterday, I'll never get my laundry done. I just hope I'm sober enough to get to the Library to return books.

Date: 2005-11-03 09:49 pm (UTC)January is generally a dumping ground for movies. See White Noise being released in January 2005. I dunno what you're saying about Bloodrayne, but it looks horrendously awfully terribly utterly incredibly soul-suckingly rottenly evilly bad. Underworld 2 just looks kinda stupid.

Date: 2005-11-03 09:53 pm (UTC)Uwe Boll made House of the Dead without the House. He made Alone in the Dark without the main character. He's putting Bloodrayne into her own movie because she's the titular character--emphasis will probably be on 'tit' there.

Date: 2005-11-03 10:11 pm (UTC)In seriousness, the one to look forward to (if you haven't heard) is Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf) directing Silent Hill, adapted by Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction). That's actually going to be worth seeing...
