In need of diversion? Tell me from whence these lines have come:
(Note: I won't post which have been guessed here, so don't look at the comments and let's see who gets the mostest!)

1. "Cookies need love like everything does."

2. "You wanna become a cheerleader to prove that you're not a loser?"

3. "I knew a guy who had two members on the same body, dated him for about a half hour, got so exhausted."

4. "Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue."

5. "You know what they say about women and trolley cars. There's plenty of 'em in the sea."

6. "Everything in this room is eatable. Even I'm eatable. But that is called 'cannabalism,' my dear children, and is in fact frowned upon in most societies."

7. "Congratulations, you are still alive. Most people are so ungrateful to be alive. But not you, not anymore."

8. "Reports of my assimilation have been greatly exaggerated."

9. "Last night, Darth Vader came down from planet Vulcan and told me that if I didn't take Lorraine out that he'd melt my brain."

10. "Don't ever call me crazy, Alan. Ever. 'Cause everyone in this town has called me crazy ever since I told them that you were sucked into a board game."

11. "Oh, they're hopeless--a disgrace to the forces of evil."

12. "We've met before, but something tells me you're going to remember me this time."

13. "A diversion." (note: No, you do not get any more than that. If you need more, you are not geeky enough to read this LJ)

14. "I've been meditating on the very great pleasure which a pair of fine eyes and the face of a pretty woman can bestow."

15. "Hee hee, 'Get her.' That was your whole plan. I like it--it was scientific."

No to 2, and you do probably know 12. Ah well, should have given you a handicap so the rest could get some in there. You'll have to post this meme, too, you know.

You got it, all of them!

Airplane! has so many good quotes. I could probably have just said "Scientologeeeeeeeee!" and people would have known it in a word.

That one has so many funny moments, but very few I could quote and have be crystalline on their own. "A Mighty Wind" is probably better for the zing-one-liner type stuffs.

I definitely love "Best in Show," though.

4. Aw, so familiar. Airplane?
6. Charlie and the Chocoloate Factory (the new).
7. Gotta be Saw or Saw II, though I refuse to see them.
8. Star Trek: First Contact.
9. Back to the Future
12. This sounds familiar, too, though I can't quite place it.
15. Ghostbusters.

Eh, besides "Wha happa?", Best in Show takes the cake.

If you haven't yet seen Waiting for Guffman, we must have words.

Yes to 4 being Airplane!, and you got 6, 7 (Saw, not Saw II), 8, 9, and 15.

12 Is giving people a hard time! How interesting.

I own Waiting for Guffman. I think I've seen it once, though, whereas I've seen Best in Show and A Mighty Wind several times. Nothing personal, but just 'cause I own it, I seem not to watch. Weird.

I AM COMING OVER NOW.

I haven't seen Guffman in years. I will never get over Parker Posie's alternate audition scene, or the deleted song from the main performance. Oy.

I must have gotten you confused with another friend who has seen all the Christopher Guest films EXCEPT Guffman. If she's not you, then who...?

I finally gave up and Googled #12. I'm glad I did. I've never actually seen that movie, so I'd've been wracking my brain for a LONG time trying to come up with it. :P

I actually gave into temptation and read the comments before posting. For the record, I got 7, 8, and 9 without a problem, and suspected 10 was Jumanji (it was either that or the new sequal/thing about a space game).

As for 13, I just keep cycling through old RPGs that I either playing in or ran, all of which had diversions that went horribly, horribly wrong.

Date: 2005-11-11 05:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] trinityvixen.livejournal.com
::giggles:: I seriously can't believe 13 is giving anyone trouble. Maybe when a certain roommate of mine gets around to guessing, we'll know..

well these are all stabs in the dark:

I'd think that the conspicuous lack of Serenity quotes + your obsession with it would lead to #13 being from there.

I need to see Airplane. =)

From: [identity profile] arcane-the-sage.livejournal.com
well #2 I have no clue any more, and #13 there are just too many geeky movies where the term "a diversion" is said, but let's try Pluto Nash. For some reason #12 is making me think of Kevin Spacey so was it L.A. Confidential, American Beauty, or K-Pax? (those are the only other movies of his I can recall off the top of my head).

Date: 2005-11-11 08:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] trinityvixen.livejournal.com
You've noticed that, too, hrm? Well, I hate to disappoint, but 13 is not from Joss' opus.

You haven't seen Airplane!!?!? What a deprived childhood!

Date: 2005-11-11 08:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] trinityvixen.livejournal.com
13 is just eluding everyone. It was such a moment, too! I mean, there's talk, and there's more talk, and then XXXXXXX lets off with "A diversion." Sigh.

As for 12, you're narrowing in. Come closer than anyone else, in fact. But I can't give you a yes/no to three guesses or a blanket actor-guess, so you'll have to be more specific. But closer, closer you get!

Date: 2005-11-11 08:54 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] arcane-the-sage.livejournal.com
Ok this is where I pretend to list each one out one at a time, in a brute force method of seeing if one of my guesses are right. Please tell me you're not going to make me put up 3 whole entries in order to see if it's one of those 3. If that's not the case then (going in order of most popular to least):

12) American Beauty

and one more stab at 13:

13) Tango and Cash?

Brava. Somebody finally got 12 and it was you!

13 nothing doing! One more go?

I didn't see many movies (I think one a year, the Disney movie) until I went to college. We didn't have a VCR until sometime late in high school, and we never rented videos. Movies I have seen = what we've watched at movie night + a few others + ones I've seen in theaters recently. I go to the movie theater more often now, since the big theater in boston is right by my school and a movie is a nice reward. =)
