I managed to get tipsy and not drunk Friday night and buzzed-but-not-tipsy Saturday night at two separate belated birthday get-togethers. Much fun was had by all, I'd say, and me not excepted. Stayed up till 2 am both nights, and slept till noon both Saturday and Sunday. Ate good food, hung out with awesome peeps, and generally lived it up. Got to escort a very bubbly (read: tipsy-bordering-on-exhausted-and-probably-drunk) [livejournal.com profile] feiran home, which is such a swing around from the way these things usually go, I'm still amazed.

Saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Friday night. Liked the Weasley twins well enough--though I wouldn't go into the raptures some ( ::cough cough:: [livejournal.com profile] viridian ::cough:: ) do about them. Loved Ron, as always, and absolutely adored Neville. Neville's story gets me just here, you know? And the actor who plays him is so loveably doofy-looking, heart-breaking, and endearing all at once. I cannot wait to see him in Order of the Phoenix. Lots of naughty bits-type humor, which hey, gave us Daniel Radcliffe in a bath, so, not complaining! This movie feeds the paedos on both sides of the aisle. Not sure if I like it better or worse than Prisoner of Azkaban, as it was a lot jumpier than POA at the start, and some of the changes, while necessary for story brevity, felt, meh, I dunno, not well achieved. I miss Gary Oldman as Sirius lots.

Other than that, it's a short week, I'm gonna get turkey and pie by the end of it, and everything's coming up Milhouse!

I know Sirius was in the fireplace. I just meant that I missed him more--I mean, missed having him in it more. But the parts that were chopped for length, mostly revolving around Mr. Crouch and Karkaroff, were heavy on Sirius stuffs. But no mention of Snuffles? Or revelation to Snape about the animagus?

But yeah, what was left out here was mostly okay, I just wish they'd found a way not to include the World Cup at all as it was mostly useless. The only things that were necessary to have from the world cup were the portkeys and the Death Eaters. Having the mystery man who lit the dark mark is less interesting than the mystery in the book surrounding its conjuration because the movie let Harry actually see that someone did conjure it, which takes away some of his confoundment.

Meh, I think because I liked POA better as a book, I might be more inclined to forgive this movie for what it cut versus what was cut for the POA movie. Jury's still out.
