trinityvixen--Battlestar Gallactica continues to be awesome in just about every way imaginable. No, I am not solely referring to Apollo losing his towel in front of Xena. --Dynasty Warriors 5 has never stopped being a tremendous game. Sun Shang Xiang met her husband on Saturday, and he was all like "Baby, you sooooo fine," and she was all like "Psh, 'nuff with the sugar-talk, poppa, let's get it on when I ain't whoopin' ass!"
--Also, I have gotten better (and worse) at Amplitude. Go figure.
--Aeon Flux the cartoon is easily the most disgusting animated thing I've watched ever. It's the drawn-out figures that are all skin, bone, and saliva, that really gets to me, I think. The needless squishing noises will give me nightmares if I let it.
--Aeon Flux the movie wasn't bad. I sorta just paid attention to the costumes, which were all very awesome to a one. Hairdos, not so much (did a pumpkin vomit onto Frances McDormand's head?), and plot? They didn't need no stinkin' plot. I was happy with what I went to see, namely Euro-trash Clive Owen. Johnny Lee Miller, why? Why the come-over? Can't you go bald, I dunno, gracefully?
--The New York Botanical Gardens had a city-scape built of twigs and leaves and fungi. I was disappointed with the quality of the floral Guggenheim, but the rest was pretty all right. I did not know, until we had pretty much walked the length of the exhibit, that the "Train Show" did not include rides, just lots of trains on tracks. I was already laughed at, so, please, save it and give me a break, okay? My roomie and friend talked about trains you could ride nonstop until we got there; I may be forgiven for assuming that was what waited in store for us.
--FOR THE LOVE OF YOUR MONEY, don't bother with the Holiday Lights at the Bronx Zoo. Perhaps I am biased as, by the time we got there, I was sick to death of children running around screaming and stomping on snow and their parents walking into our picture-taking and not restraining their brats. I had definitely had enough of that in an enclosed place at the conservatory at the Gardens, but I did not know the levels of HELL to which one can sink if they are stuck in half a zoo with all the strollers, parents, and brats you can cram onto the few open paths.
Seriously, aside from the always fun repitle house (Holy Jebus, one of the snakes moved!!!! And the water snakes were like all moving!!!) and the adorable critters of the mouse house (kangaroo rats win at being rodents), the Holiday Lights at the Zoo is a total let down. You pay to see wires wrapped in lights and shaped like animals you are not seeing because it's too cold for them. The "Narnia" exhibit at the Butterfly Garden was a bunch of stilt-walkers, the aforementioned animal/character-shaped lights, and some anonymous props from the movie. The goddamned butterflies weren't even out.
And did I mention the horrible stink children!? Pathetic human worm babies! Piss-poor parenting skills! Long walks in the cold to the subway stops and a 5 train that promised to come and never did! Gahh!!!
I did, however, take down the information for the reptile house volunteering. I would work there in a second.

Date: 2005-12-05 09:48 pm (UTC)I am the type to squash misbehavior. Ask my younger sisters! We went out to dinner, my entire family, my mom's dad and his wife, and my mom's sister. There wasn't room for us at one table, so it was trusted that I could keep Devin and Drew in line at a table by ourselves. We were better behaved than the other table by far, and that was at a fondue place!
Why would you wish boys on me? I clearly don't understand them. Weren't you the one who I was (AHEM) very sympathetic towards when you said you wanted boys but not young ones? Come on, I don't curse your reproductive wishes, don't try wishing reproduction (A CURSE IN ITSELF!) upon me!

In all the times I have heard that story from various siblings who were present, let me point out that nobody ever said you were mean or made any threats....just that you were sooo good with little ones that you were the better table.
Remind me to get you the tiki god of fertility for christmas :P

Date: 2005-12-05 09:45 pm (UTC)Aeon Flux played around with non-linear storytelling, which isn't a problem if the storytelling meant much. Nothing changes in that world, people just get weirder. I rather enjoyed the non-sensical deaths in the shorts (Aeon herself dies plenty, and that's never a problem). As a series of shorts, I think it's not so bad, but the longer eps just don't mean anything.
