A troop of about ten helicopters just went by (over) our building. Are we being exploded again or was there just really interesting traffic downtown today?

ETA: Make that two sets of ten helicopters. What's going on?

ETAA (edited to add again): This is like watching fish school. Now they're going by my window but headed west instead of south. A little fleet of helicopters, always trailed by the one who's half a mile behind. The retard fish-er, helicopter.

...so was this ever figured out? Or just a mystery for the ages? (As far as I've noticed, downtown is not on fire. And, well, I think for the last few years that's been something we've all been startlingly grateful for.)

To my knowledge, no, still one of life's mysteries. I take it to mean this is a police action or something they don't want us knowing about until it's over. But I've been updating the NYT online, and I'm gonna start checking Daily News, hell, even the paranoid pundits at the Post (whew) because I am dead curious. Maybe Kong is downtown?
