It's sad it has to come to this but, Evolution naamed 2005's top scientific breakthrough.

Aaaaand there's this tidbit from the head tit, Michael Behe: "It was a real disappointment," biochemist Michael J. Behe, who testified in the trial, said from his office at Lehigh University. "It's hard to say this chills the atmosphere, because if you're publicly known as an ID supporter you can already kiss your tenure chances goodbye. It doesn't help."

That's crazy talk--you might not be given tenure for supporting crackpot non-science (if you say it with a Southern accent, it sounds like nonsense--coincidence?)? Aww, I feel so bad for you. Hows about we put up some papers or research grants to fund your unresearchable research?

The rest of the ID crowd is the typical mix you'd expect--Bible-thumping Southern Baptist who is convinced that the Supreme Court's new appointees are the saviors who will overturn this ruling; Kansas officials going "well, shouldn't we still figure out if the gaps in evolutionary theory have other causes? Anyone? ::crickets:: "; and then your basic hope-for-the-best dogged idealist who thinks that because the Scopes trial was a failure but evolution triumphed that this must be an exact same circumstance (BEWARE THE RISE OF ID! in other words).

And oooooh snap! Them bitches running for Governor are already posturing over what they would have done to end the strike in New York City. One of the Republican candidates (Bill Weld, former MA governor) is trying to throw dirt at Elliot Spitzer for not using the Att. Gen's office to do more to end the strike. It really raises my hopes for his governorship that Spitzer's spokesperson is this fantastically witty and sarcastic:

..."The attorney general's office has been in court every day this week seeking sanctions to help stop the strike," said Spitzer spokesman Darren Dopp. Spitzer worked to obtain contempt citations against union leaders who called for the strike that violated the state Taylor Law, sought million dollar fines for each day of the strike, and other action. Those efforts ended the strike.

"We obtained some of the strongest measures ever imposed and we continue to seek additional penalties. Our actions speak for themselves," Dopp said. "While Mr. Weld was bloviating, the attorney general was playing a key role in helping to end the strike and get both sides back to negotiating table."...

...Mr. Weld knows less about solving strikes than he does about running trade schools," said Dopp, Spitzer's spokesman. He referred to a Kentucky trade school in which Weld and his company invested which is now under federal investigation over allegations that the school improperly obtained federal student loan money...

I'll say it again: Ooh, snap!

Aaaaaahhhhhhh!

I was listening to the first Christmas carol station I found. Which turned out to wacko-Christian central. They had a commercial - a "Creation Moment" about a spider and a fly discovered in the Amazon who have a symbiotic relationship. If the spider wasn't this way, if the fly wasn't that way, the relationship wouldn't work. Why are they like this? Because God created them exactly like that to show us that He can solve any problem, if we just go to him through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It's apparently put out by a group that teaches us about how God created the world and about the Deluge.

I practically screamed as I threw myself across the room to turn the radio to a different channel.
