Which is what I'm meant to be doing. But I'm sooooo on Fiji time. Which basically means the same thing as "no worries, she'll be right" for you Aussies. It means things will happen as they happen and only could happen that way so what's the point of moving any faster?

Except that's just it. Even for Fiji time, this past week's been ridiculous and this flying over the dateline isn't really going to make it any better. After my last post, it was off to the Octopus Resort on Waya, where I finally fell for Fiji, hook line and sinker. Wonderfully friendly people, who cared, took the time to know your name, and were just wonderful in every way I don't have time at the present moment to go into. But yeah. Loved them.

Loved my resort! For $60FJD, I got a bed with mossy netting, three meals a day, and a choice beach front on which i dozed, read, and used as base for snorkelling which was pretty out of this world. The reef practically comes right up to the shore, fish are abundant, and one or two actually stay still for photos (black and white fish, called sargent majors or something followed me around--first one, then like a swarm, if they were larger than 10 cm, I'd have worried--but they ate sea jellies, so I'm a fan of theirs).

Stupid stingers got me on almost every dive I went on, but I had the best night dive ever out there: two octopii (really keen to seen them change colors over and over and over), two huge rock lobsters/crayfish, a pufferfish (weird-ass looking even without being puffed, which it never did even though our divemaster harassed it), and a shark--there's nothing quite as eerily beautiful as a shark swimming in the dark water.

Made a few pals, met a Dale (not quite the same as a Dayle, I know) for a dive buddy, heaps of Kiwis or former Kiwis returning from exile in England (seemed to be a theme), and just beach beach beach beach (and sunburn, and sand fly bites, and coral scratches...). Even got to go to a Fijian church service this morning on what will be the longest day of my life. Had one last snorkel this morning to wrap myself in the warm weather I'm soon to lose.

Oh, yeah, and movies on the beach! How cool is that? The first night was "Swordfish" (uh, Lisa, was that the one you hated hated hated but watched so you never had to again?) but it stopped working halfway through, which peeves me b/c it means I'll have to find it on video and I don't really want to pay for it if it's going to suck (it wasn't the pits as far as we got, but I need to finish it anyway, whether it's Speed-worthy action or The Crow: City of Angels-sucktacular).

The next movie night was Matrix Reloaded, and Toni and I had the giggles over Keanu Reeves. I also declared I was ready and willing to take on practically any member of the cast and that I had a weakness for guys in their forties. Promptly, the movie rolled on to where the old Councilor guy shows up and she asked if that was the only guy 40+ I *wasn't* interested in. Well, duh, no! But she was right to ask as I was going "him, him, him" at the scene in the beginning with all the cute captains looking all sad (awwwww puppy faces). Then I said "him, him, him" to all the Agent Smith copies, and Toni was shocked. Mary came to my defence at breakfast and declared that my declaration that Hugo Weaving is too cool not to be sexy in a major way was, in fact, accurate. Heeeee. Our pompous Hugo Weaving is better than your pompous Hugo Weaving! (or something like that, have forgotten what the sig really is)

And now, it's OVER!!! ACK!

I missed the sunset today, and that wigs me because I won't see another one in the Southern Hemisphere for some time. Balls to that. Okay, I need to remember it will still be Sunday forever and go catch my flight that makes it so. Also, stupid hotel internet = $$$$, even when converted from FJD to the currency of my choice.

Woo.

See you NY guys soon!!!!

Dayle, what are you talking about? It can't take more than 45 minutes to get home from New Jersey.
