I am so the good daughter. I got the oil changed on my dad's car after my trip upstate--turns out it was like four thousand miles overdue, too, and I rode home most of the way with the "LOW OIL" light on (never seen that one before, and I've been party to many a car-type protest).

Trip was utterly uneventful. The Best Buy guys were there early (I know, WTF?), so I was out of there by 10:30 am. I stopped at Wal-Mart for some socks (I always seem to lose my nice white athletic socks, and winter's coming on us), got a drink and gas, and I was home before 3 pm. The only lasting scars are some bug bites that I got on my palm of all places. They itch like mad, but I've been trying to be good and not play with them as the last itch I got I scratched raw and bloody and hasn't yet healed fully because of the taking on and taking off of gloves at work.

I got home in time to take my mother to Serenity. She loved it, really did, though she said (a tad upseted like) it seemed like a finisher, a wrapping up, and she sounded definitely disappointed that it wasn't bound to spark more interest. On the other hand, she's going to buy Firefly for my aunt, her sister, because the two of them bonded of late and she thinks they are a lot more similar than either realized. Yay! Serenity is love!

Also, LOST? OMFG SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! )

More LOST

Spoiler cut not necessary, but just covering )

I have nothing else to contribute today. I'm at work, I've been working, woop-de-freakin' do. Anyone have any ideas for Halloween for me? I think this weekend I'll head down to the Party City I saw in Union Square, try to hunt up some ideas. I've toyed with a bunch of disparate and joint costume ideas and not really gelled with any of them. I'd love to do Rainbow Brite, but I'll be damned if I pay Ricky's $70 for the costume.

Ack, I still have to work on my Two Lines entry! [livejournal.com profile] darkling1 kindly performed story critique on it the level of his usual, so I have lots of notes. I spent a lunchtime going over them, trying to find answers to his questions and trying to insert lines to backup places where I felt I'd been lax in my storytelling for the sake of pretty-sounding flow. It happens a lot. I'm terrible at revision because I write spur-of-the-moment/free-flow all the time. I almost never plan out anything in advance, but once I perfect the way a line sounds, I am so fixed on it I have trouble changing it. I could submit the entry as is--it's just a fanfiction contest--but I do want to make it better. Sigh.
