Customer Service has a bad rap for a reason. And when they jumped ship from Staples at my job, I should have seen the ship going down. The default company we use gets points for being fast, fine, but if anything is remotely complicated, it's a thirty-minute phone call or you go without. Case in point: I called simply to find out when their 2007 wall calendars would be available. The lady in the office, when I submitted a request to order some said they were backordered, and in her approximation of helpfulness, didn't bother to find out when they would be in stock.

I take back the things I swore about her being lazy because I called and got re-routed after ten minutes of trying to get the woman simply to give me an estimate on stock levels for one item. Turns out there's a special number that handles the accounts for the university. Which I only get told after wasting my life on that stupid call for ten minutes. The next lady is more cheerful, but just about as helpful. She gives me three alternate calendar item numbers, but they're all backordered, too. Well, that's really fucking great, and super, can I have a guess as to when they'll be ready? I would have accepted a guess.

Fuck it, I'm going to the bookstore. The calendars there are probably on sale.

And is the Barnes and Noble BOGO DVD sale even worth it? I swear that all of their stuff is overpriced in the extreme. Even with the BOGO thing, you might pay more for some series than you'd pay for both elsewhere. The exceptions are the sets that are expensive everywhere, like the complete set for Buffy the Vampire Slayer or anything HBO puts onto DVD. But you'd have to buy something just as expensive to make it worth it. I could see buying the Buffy box if I bought like two and split it with someone else ($90 for all of Buffy!), but otherwise, meh?
