I don't do the year-in-review memes so much. This is more my own tally of new-to-me pieces of entertainment consumed.

I see that I managed to outdo myself on the number of movies seen this year versus last year. I've seen 50% more movies in 2007 than I did in 2006 (120 versus 81). 120! Crazy! Television seasons completed, despite there being fewer arcs of Doctor Who viewed and rented, increased almost as much (46 to 33). I didn't quite manage to double the number of books read in 2007 as I'd resolved to do for New Year's 2006, but I came within shouting distance of it. Had I not been entertaining a baby by myself for much of the vacation that was not otherwise devoted to a wedding, I might have made it.

Not that anyone cares about that, nosir. Here are so recommendations based on what I read/saw and enjoyed (or didn't!) in 2007.

I bought "The Calendar of Bunny Suicides" for my calendar at work. All last year, I had a Hello, Kitty one up and in contrast, the all black-and-white calendar looks really...boring. I mean, the bunnies is cute and all, but it's just kinda dull. I knew I should have gotten the proverbial cat calendar.

It was slim pickings at the book store where we get our lab's supplies, all right? I suppose I could have taken the nature photos and given the post-doc the Bunny Suicides, but that would have been hard to explain, methinks. And there was no way I was putting up Harry Potter or Spider-Man 3. I think I come off as childish enough as regards that first one and the latter broke my heart (and brain).

I might have to bring my new Hello, Kitty calendar to work. Because I definitely use the one at work way more often, and I could use some color by my desk. Either way, I won't have paid for one calendar. And the one I keep at home I keep just as handy but not often looked to reference. Perhaps if I put it closer to my door?

(Note: I don't love Hello, Kitty. It's just that the calendars are so cute and colorful. Last year, I bought it on a whim--again, slim pickings at the book store when I was there for lab calendars--and this year I bought it because it was a calendar of fashion through the ages. How could I turn down Greco-Roman Hello, Kitty!?)
