I beat Kingdom Hearts II last night.
Oh, it took some doing, don't get me wrong, but I did it.
Well, let me qualify that--
cagexxx saved me about three weeks of leveling up my Drive Forms, my Summons, and my Moogle, not to mention beating Sephiroth for me, so really, I just beat the Hades Paradox Cup, which wasn't easy, let me tell you--I believe I mentioned the second-to-last round where I had to beat Cloud, Leon, Tifa, and Yuffie by myself with only magic and limit breaks? Yes?
Turns out that was tricky, but not too difficult to manage. It was also--juding from the guffaws of my roommates--pretty funny to watch as I kept gliding away from danger and then freaking out whenever one or more of these hero opponents of DOOM caught me. It's pretty confusing to manage all four of them. Leon is swinging his giant-ass, flaming sword around and tossing fireballs, Cloud's going "Huh!" and zipping around the arena like a balloon letting off air, Yuffie is represented by the clouds left over from her various teleportations, and Tifa is constantly approaching to hit you.
BUT I HIT FIRST. Heeee! Honestly, I had spent so much time worrying over that ending that I would say the rounds you had to complete--including beating Cloud and Leon with more health bars than they had in the second-to-last round--on a time budget were more difficult because of the time constraint making it absolutely necessary you blow the beejeezus out of everything in as short a period as possible.
Oh yeah, and the "secret ending"? SO NOT WORTH THE AGGRAVATION. That said, I am still glad I defeated the Journal of DOOM. I am still curious as to what the ending means, whether it was the shape of things to come or what, and it was beautiful, but I despair that I will probably not know for some time as the quality of the thing makes me suspect Kingdom Hearts III will be a PS3 game. And the PS3 is going to be too expensive for me to own for like forever.
I guess this whole entry could be summarized in three words: SUCK IT, JIMINY!!!

Date: 2006-05-11 04:29 pm (UTC)And you really only have to play through 40 rounds. If you use Stitch every two seconds in the 11-20 rounds where you can abuse summons, you can get 15000 there alone.
It's the timed round from 31-40 that is the doosy. I had to play that three times to beat it. But I only had to do the one where I was all on my own once!

Date: 2006-05-11 04:31 pm (UTC)I decided a while back that I was going to draw the line at completing that cup, since it's way too long, way too hard, way too not-worth-it. But if you pulled it off and didn't lose hours of your life trying and failing, I suppose I could do it too.
