Lisa's work-friend Hannah came by with her new MacBookPro the other day and I was inspired with envy upon seeing the thing--it's narrow, brushed metal beautiful, with fun features to play with (which [livejournal.com profile] feiran did to hilarious extent). It seemed to have better things everywhere than mine--better memory, built-in camera, light-up keyboard--and I could barely console myself that it was twice as expensive and tended to get really hot (which it did, rapidly, while [livejournal.com profile] feiran played around with it).

But now mine is here! And it is sooooooo pretty! It's also lighter than Hannah's MacBookPro for certain, it has a whole bunch of media buttons (which is not remote control option like Hannah's, but is pretty cool), and the cherry-colored cover is very pretty in its own right.

Before the ritual first turning-on of the computer, I have to name the new baby. The first name that came to me was "Ambrosia." I don't know why that, but that's what I thought of. It might be homophonic dissonance or something, where "Ambrosia" sounded like a color the cover reminded me of or something...

One thing I know for sure: my owner account for XP will definitely be "Yellow Valkyrie" because I wasn't able to have it for my Animal Crossing name (and I still giggle madly at the very thought of XP loading and saying WELCOME and having YELLOW VALKYRIE pop up.

Yay, new computer! Good times. I've had mine for a few months now and I still haven't sorted its name. The last one was Pandora. Sometimes I think this one is actually male. I don't know why. Ignore me.

I must express my dislike the word "ambrosia." But it boils down to my personal loathing of the word. I don't know why - I don't. I just hate it. Maybe it's my grandmother's ambrosia salad? THE NIGHTMARES.

You know something? I have no idea where Ambrosia came from. Pandora's appropriate, though, given the tempestuous nature of computers here and there.

Actually, I think my computer's a guy, too. Which is why the next thing after Ambrosia that I got was "Ambrose." And I kinda like that, too, because it's actually a name.

I love my mother's ambrosia salad. No coconut, just marshmellows and fruit, mmmmm good.

I, of course, heartily support Ambrose as the name because dude! Ambrose Bierce! YAY.

Congrats on the new toy! I am no stranger to computer envy...I really wish mine had media buttons...but I'm pretty happy with Schmendrick :)

Why do you bother with an owner account in XP? Do you expect to share your computer with anyone? I just didn't bother with that option on mine.

Cheers!

I bother with the other account so I can still password-lock mine and yet have it available for others to use who need to quickly check something online. For guests, you may use "Red Sorceress" on Ambrose.

Schmendrick is a brilliant name, btw.
