Wikipedia is great for many things, but telling me that "the diaphragm is a dome-shaped musculofibrous septum" doesn't help me much.

[livejournal.com profile] plungerdna, [livejournal.com profile] arcfox7, could you help me out here? Is it skeletal muscle since the diaphragm is under voluntary control?

I think it's actually not considered voluntary, since it usually works automatically (you don't usually think about breathing). Nevertheless, it's skeletal, since it doesn't propagate its stimulus to another muscle or vice versa.

Does a PhD count? : ) I'm more of an information sponge.

PhDs count. Good for you on storing useful information. I'm more a repository of useless factoids.

(Damn, you'd think that I'd remember *something* from medical school.)

Heh, I forgot about you. I think of you as PhD first, MD second. My bad. But kudos, that should help lots.
