Are cats actually allowed to have milk or is that a myth supported by cartoons? 'Cause this morning when I went in to change the kittens' water and post about my weird-ass dream, Wally wouldn't leave me alone while I ate my cereal. I let him lick the spoon when I was done. He and Oscar both jumped to lick my bowl, too (I'd drunk the milk out). I heard cats were lactose intolerant--or is that the old folk wisdom?

I think I can't leave the window fan in the living room. It's frackin' noisy as all get out when we're trying to watch TV as is, but man did I sleep well with it in my room last night. I'd put my fan in the room with the kitties to move the air about so's they wouldn't be too hot (my room fan has a cage that's too small for them to stick paws through). It being still unbearably hot later that night, I took the fan out of the living room.

This is why I should probably get a white noise generator, ya? I mean, none of the bangs or squeaky brakes bothered me. I'm probably ruining my hearing subjecting myself to the noise all night, but hey, full night's sleep? Awesome.

yeah, I think vets often say not to give cats actual milk, so when my cats were little we used to give them this special cat milk we bought at the pet store and they liked that. :)

Heh, I plan on taking many more and spamming LJ mightily with them. They get bigger by the day, I swear.

Mosr cats are indeed lactose intolerant so giving them too much milk can lead to stomach upsets and such. But just a little bit - like the droplets remaining in your bowl really shouldn't be a big deal. It depends on the cat. Some have extra stinky bowel movements afterwards and some don't mind a bit.

Fantastic. One of them already makes stinky poops. Well, I hope they're of the "nothing happened, thank Bob" group, because they sure attacked that bowl fiercely.

They like it...

But it's not necessarily good for them. click for more details (http://www.foxvalleypets.org/cats/?details=26&page=397)

cats LOVE it, but don't do it. cats are lactose intolerant. giving them a sip of milk won't destroy them, but more than that and they'll puke everywhere and get diarrhea. i've seen it. it's not pretty. i wonder if they can drink lactaid...
