AC levels not fully restored in the lab today, but it's better than it was yesterday so far. Whenever it is I stop being paranoid about it, I'll actually let myself feel the temperature (as opposed to drinking cool things and dipping into the cold room periodically). It was a tad hellish here yesterday, in case my wiped-out whiny posts weren't a clue.

In fact, speaking of Hell (specifically, it freezing over): Pat Robertson says there IS global warming. Good. First sane thing I think he's ever said. We need to encourage more religious-bent fundies to think more...well, I can't think of a polite way to say it, so I'll just say they need to think correctly about global warming, damn it.

On an entirely unrelated note? Our cats have some serious problems. Nothing that alarms me, just that annoys me. Last night, Wally peed on [livejournal.com profile] feiran curtains. This morning while I was getting ready to go, I noticed Oscar had a little dribbly butt thing going on, and I couldn't get to him before he dropped a present on my floor. When I came back with a towel to clean it, I found I hadn't been looking carefully enough. He'd left little dollops wherever he'd been walking around (thank God, he hadn't climbed on anything). I closed them in the office room for now, and I'll check in on them at lunch, see if the situation is improved. But cleaning up cat shit on my floor first thing? Not exactly my favorite morning activity.

The peeing thing...well, I know male cats tend to spray sometimes, but I thought getting them neutered basically took care of that. Far as I know, my male cat at my parents' place hasn't sprayed as much in his ten years with us as these two have in the past few weeks. Any thoughts, cat lovers?

Neutering cats does generally get rid of the spraying problem.

Didn't Robertson say something like the current heat wave is the best evidence he's seen for global warming? He's still an idiot.

Yeah, he is. But if he'll tell his slobbering-dog followers that it exists and they need to do something about it? Fuck, yes, I'll take it!

Hey, it'd be great if someone that high-profile joined the evangelical environmentalist movement - it's been far too small so far. "Don't destroy God's Earth" is as good a message as "Love Thy Neighbor", and just as often (more often, actually) lost when people get too rabid about their religion and how others' actions are an affront.

What ever happened to the "What Would Jesus Drive?" anti-SUV campaign, anyway?

Who knows? You get people like those who say us being stewards of the Earth means we can do whatever the fuck we want--AC with windows open? No problem! Running lights 24/7? Hell, those coral didn't matter to us anyway.

Forget that, in the steward analogy, you actually have to take care of the property while the Master's away...
