[livejournal.com profile] chuckro, I'm looking in your direction!

According to some trivia on the IMDB (I know, I know, not exactly evidence, but I'm excited, so shh!), although Chloe on Smallville wasn't ever in DC canon for Superman, DC was going to introduce her (probably because she is insanely cool and popular, and major comics houses do that sort of thing all the time and continuity/integrity be damned!). My question is simply this: was she?

Because really, that would make me feel much, much better. In watching over the early season five episodes so far, Chloe has become thirty bajillion times awesomer than anything, and she was always pretty cool to begin with. She's the adult on the show, where the adults all act like children and the children all act like brats. And I used to haaaaate that she was sweet on Clark, but she plays it so well, and so not angsty (unlike everyone else, again), so adult, that I break a little every time Clark is like "You're such a good friend." Because, if DC hasn't invoked her in continuity, she is so doomed (not to mention that I want to slap Clark upside the head for going after finnicky, whiny, angsty, stupid Lana when Chloe is so amazing and right there). Damn it, I need to find out if she got into canon. Oh pleaseohpleaseohpleaseohpleaseohpleaseohplease...

Besides that, I still want James Marstsers as Brainiac/Spike/random dude to dooooooo me. "Splinter" was an awesome episode. It took something that looked like it was bound to be hackneyed and made-for-the-show, what-is-canon-anyway? stuff into this awesome thing what awesomed spectacularly with James Marsters doing the awesoming (seriously, there is no other adjective-verb-noun to decribe it). The Smallville Zod had better be something amazing to warrant his work, I tells you.

Wikipedia mentions the same thing--they planned to introduce her in the comics in March 2006. No evidence that was done yet.

If you like her so much, I should bring by the DVDs with the "Chloe Chronicles" :)

Hmm, not yet, eh? The IMDB had it as being 2003. I wonder, then if this just is never to be. They're waiting for Smallville to go away, probably, though Bob knows the DC universe retcons whenever it wants, so I don't see why this should be a problem...

Now, see, the thing is I'm not sure Chloe works out of context. As in, I'm not sure she plays as well solo as she does off of others. Hence my not wanting to watch Veronica Mars because it seemed like the Nancy Drew/Chloe Sullivan crossover hour.

But yeah, why not? Are they any good?

Veronica Mars? Absolutely.

Jerk. You know what I meant. I'd sooner watch the all-Lana hour (not really, but, like, that's about my level of interest in VM).

OH MY GOD I JUST CURSED THAT INTO EXISTING. WHYYYYYY!?!!?!

ask a silly question...

WHYYYYYY!?!!?!

...because you have a secret desire to watch Lana-porn? After all lets face facts. An all Lana hour would eventual devolve into porn anyway with all the stripping and the sex scenes they would have to do to keep people interested (just look at her in the first 2 seasons).

No, actually it wouldn't. I forget where I read it (TWoP, probably), but apparently the actress isn't all that adventurous. There was an episode with vampires (::GROAN::) where the vampire leader (a girl) infected Lana by cutting her tongue so she bled then kissing Lana. It was done all by inference. They showed the vampire chick getting close, then it jumped to shadows of their heads leaning in. Why? Because Kristin Kreuk didn't want to do a lesbian kiss, let alone anything worse.

Now, speaking as someone who is a girl and has kissed girls, a kiss? It's nothing. Certainly, it has nothing on porno. And kissing a guy versus kissing a girl? Not much of a difference either way if the kiss doesn't turn you on (and, as a "professional actress"--NOTE: IRONY--Kristin Kreuk shouldn't be turned on by any of the people she kisses on the show--and she kisses quite a few of them). If I were her? I wouldn't have batted an eye at kissing the vampire chick any more than I would have kissing Tom Welling (okay, so I might have gotten a little more fluttery kissing him...)

BUT AHHHH!!! NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT (or, in my case, INSANE) MIND WOULD EVER WANT TO SEE LANA LANG JUST BE LANA LANG FOR ANY LONGER THAN THEY ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO TO GET THROUGH SMALLVILLE.

Just ugh, dude. Even before you made it dirty. UGH.

Yeah, sorry, I own more Superman trade paperbacks than the baby Jesus does, but I've never heard of her.

They're going to put Zod in Smallville...?

Brainiac's trying to bring Zod out of the Phantom Zone. I think he actually succeeds by the end of the season. There were rumors that the voice of Jor-El that was heard in the ship and out of the crystals back at the Fortress was really Zod's, trying to trick Clark (not that it would take anything so elaborate; he's not the sharpest crystal in the cave, if you catch my drifft), but that was mainly because the creators got Terrence Stamp to do the voice of Jor-El.

When the season's over, I'll SPOIL you for whether they managed it or not.

Also? Baby Jesus reads Batman, thus proving once and for all who the cooler hero is. If the Son of Man prefers the Bat, there's no hope for Supes in this contest.

To my knowledge, unless it was done as part of the Infinite Crisis pseudo-reboot (unlikely), it hasn't happened. My guess is that Chloe dies before Smallville ends.
