Comment and I'll give you a letter. You name five songs that start with that letter. If you'd like, upload each song to share with your friends list.
My Letter: S!
1. Supervixen - Garbage
Not only a kick-ass opener to their first album, which got me hooked on the Shirley Manson, but one half the inspiration for my LJ identity. How could I not put it on this list.
2. Sin - Nine Inch Nails
Another usual suspect on my playlist, NIN's early stuff has more of the delectably, deliciously gothy stuff on it, and, when I was in high school, I had Pretty Hate Machine, and this song in particular, on frequent repeat. And that was back in the day of rewinding my tapes, y'all. "It comes down to this..."
3. Stress - Jim's Big Ego
Groovy, funny, catchy, and there was a terriffic fanvid to this song using Cowboy Bebop--and not just the usual recycled scenes, neither! I love the first line about drinking coffee and then switching to soda to feed the caffeine addiction. I sympathize.
4. Shark Attack - Freezepop
I know! I would have expected Supersprode from me, too, but since I became aware of Freezpop from Amplitude, I surfed iTunes to see what was their most popular song, and this one came up, and I love it to pieces. There are subtle changes to the singing that make me go real still when they come on so I can appreciate them better.
5. Solitaire - Suzanne Vega
Double S for the extra point! Oh, this isn't Scattergories, is it? I found this one shortly before she came and did the small concert over at Barnard, and really liked the silly yet compelling storyline--I mean, who hasn't spent an evening in their life that was over all too quickly because you got hooked on beating your score on Solitaire or racking up a winning streak on Spider Solitaire? Or knocking off a few extra Snood? It's innocuous and cool and a great idea for a song.
Speaking of music:
ivy03, I AM SO SORRY. I meant to send it last night, but I got bogged down collating e-mails. Tonight, I swear. No Lego Han Solo for me until I get the music what I promised to you uploaded.
