I will be taking an early lunch and then disappearing into tissue culture for the rest of the day. In the mean time, I continue to fannishly love stuff on my journal:

-Zack Snyder is doing Watchmen. You might not know it, but I have blogged twice in two days (and about ten minutes ago, to boot) about how he's doing this little period piece called 300. If he does well with that, I will stop worrying about Watchmen. Kinda. I am very protective of that one, because it's really one of my favorite graphic novels, which is saying something as I find a lot of what Alan Moore does to be...shall we just say "special" and leave it at that? But it has one of my favorite characters ever in it, Rorschach, and if he screws that up, so help me...

-Superman Returns is coming to DVD. Well, no duh, of course it would. I find it significant that it's coming to both formats of hi-def DVD, HD and Blu-Ray. This must be expensive for the studios to do, but it's a smart move while the format war continues (stupidly). Paying for the machinery to make both and being able to not to be dependant on one or another faction of the DVD Format Armies is a good idea. If more studios would do that, HD and Blu-Ray might get the idea that neither is special or better, and a third option might be considered (instead of forcing people to buy one or the other and then having them "lose" when one option gets more companies signed up).

-Who Wants to be a Superhero? Renewed! Good, and maybe I can catch it from the beginning this time. Doesn't surprise me that Frozone, Freelance, Frequency--FUCK WHAT IS HIS GODDAMNED NAME???--won last time (if there were ever someone in real life who actually believe he was a superhero, it was that guy), but I'd like to see more Major Victory types running around some.

-Heroes has been officially picked up, which is nice. I'm a tad jaded because it hasn't blown me away--I like it, sure, but it's not LOST or even House in level of love. This may be due to watching The 4400 which has some obvious similarities (people with powers, trying to save the world from some future doom and destruction). I'm onto season two of The 4400, and they just introduced a telepath, and I reflexively didn't like him on behalf of Mr. LOST Pilot, so maybe I'll end up liking Heroes a lot more after all.

Vastly different series (just wait till you see how season 2 ends). I think the point in the 4400 isn't that these people are heroes (hell just think of some of the "bad guys" they've produced). The point with the 4400 is that there seems to be a master plan for building a better tomorrow (though there are some elements in season 2 that suggests that there are things beginning to muck up the plan). Heroes, or at least how it's billed, seem more about people wanting to save the world. Don't get me started how secrecy influences the feel of both shows. I'm afraid I can't say too much more without risking some MASSIVE spoilers for the 4400, so please finish watching that and we'll continue this "discussion" ^_^
