Meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] newredshoes: Tell me the fictional character I remind you of and why you thought of that character. Commenters should then copy and past this meme into their own journals for others to fill out for them.

(Of course, I know that [livejournal.com profile] umeyard already thinks I'm ******, but maybe not, let's see).

Never watched B5.....

*dies*

*rezes*

Ok. I now know what series I should lend you. First season is a tad slow, but keep in mind they are building up to greatness.

...did I mention I own all (at least last time I checked) the dvds for B5 (series, movies, spin off series....).

Uh, no. I think we have the first season on loan to us from Eugene, possibly. I'll give it a perusal, maybe. Just never interested me. Looked like more serious Star Trek, and I never was a Trekkie.

The power of B5 is not so much in the sci-fi elements as it is in the power of the storyline. It is very much the epic in a sci-fi setting. If you had to compare it to anything I thing BSG would be a far more fair comparison than Star Trek (with the possible exception of Deep Space Nine). B5, while counting on tech at times, is more about the plot than most other things. Through the alien races they really explore many aspects of human nature.

I believe that, I just never found it sufficiently appealing in its advertising. Still, I can give it a shot when I have some time (which is getting to be scarce with new shows, Netflix, actually getting a life...)

perhaps this quote will help paint a picture of what she was like:

"Who am I? I am Susan Ivanova. Commander. Daughter of Andrei and Sofie Ivanov. I am the right hand of vengeance, and the boot that is going to kick your sorry ass all the way back to Earth, sweetheart! I am death incarnate, and the last living thing that you are ever going to see. God sent me."

You don't piss her off...... you just don't ^_^

I was going to post a link to the character profile, but I can't without giving up massive spoilers. I took this part from her wiki entry (the entry contains lots and lots of spoilers, but this is fairly safe):

For many viewers, Babylon 5 was exemplified by the character of Commander Susan Ivanova, second in command of the Babylon 5 station. Ivanova, portrayed by Claudia Christian, avoided many of the clichés endemic to modern sci-fi television. She was tough, assertive and self-confident, while being cynical and playfully witty. Her character was complex and evolving, never taking the easy path of stereotype.

Much of her appeal came from her quick-witted dialogue, which often lightened tensions in the serious, dramatic scenes that were the hallmark of the series. Marcus Cole, who contributed his own light-hearted banter in Seasons 3 and 4, made an excellent foil for Ivanova. Their verbal fencing, disguising an unrequited intimacy, often provided much-needed comic relief during the ever-increasing darkness descending on the Babylon 5 universe in these years.

Sounds like a sharp-tongued lady. I'd love to be so quick-witted verbally. I can manage to off chance repartee in writing, but speaking is usually more difficult. Cheers.
