trinityvixen: (liek whoa)

Two very singular things have happened just this morning. One, my mother was about to come into the city in a panic because I hadn't returned her phone calls. As in she called me four times yesterday and is so used to my being prompt with return calls (I know--what? Me? Prompt?) that she was sure I had died. For my part, I was sure that somebody else had died because when does she call me four times in the space of about as many hours otherwise? It's nice to be loved.

Two, my boss asked me if I would mind going to England to learn a technique if it came to that. I think I goggled and drooled on my shirt a little. Yes, clearly, I would mind. I told her I would go, certainly, but I confessed up front that I was a bit panicky about taking on that much expense to teach me something. Go all the way to the UK? My God, I'd have to be learning brain surgery for it to be worth that much. Really, she would go herself, except it's harder as she has a small child. I'd only be going for a few days, but still! ME! Travelling for work! To ENGLAND. THE PLACE I SAID JUST YESTERDAY THAT I WOULD MARRY IF I COULD.

::hyperventilates::

Probably won't happen, though, right? Won't get hopes up, nossireebob.

Heh... it's from Independence Day, of all places. :) He's Raphael Sbarge, otherwise known as the sexcellent Carth Onasi from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Whoa...."sexcellent" you say? I love that term! That's better than my friend (that I can't remember which) telling me something was "mexcellent." I'm gonna have to steal that.

I need an icon of Capt. Jack Harkness with "sexcellent" written at the bottom. And I just happen to have a computer with photoshop...Now if only I could use it!

Woo! London is brilliant. You could even catch Torchwood "live" if the timing is right.

I have a friend staying there for a while. I wish I could visit.

You should while they're there. Save you a few thousand dollars. That place is fucked-up expensive on good days, and with the pound up to about $2 per? Holy crap.

Yeah, it's like paying New York prices...doubled.

Man, you should have seen the hotel we stayed at when we visited after I graduated. Sketchiest night desk clerk ever, for starters.

It's funny, living in such an expensive city, I forget that there are places that are worse. But I always remember England is baaaaad maaaad expensive. Always will be.

And doesn't Torchwood/Doctor Who film in Wales? That's a fair ways away.

Well, I meant you can watch it when it's broadcast, instead of downloading it...

::laughs:: Quite right. Well, we can see where my mind went versus yours.

You meant: You can watch the programme you like!
I heard: You could stalk the production!

Hurray!

London is a fun place. Granted it's been 7 1/2 years since I've been there, but from what I hear from updates it is still fun ^_^ Hmmmmm.... given your love affair with things british how is it you haven't dropped by Myers of Keswick yet? *glances at you strangely*

I don't know what that is. But, for me, it's been about half my life since I was there last. Definitely worth another visit.

Dude, I got excited at the prospect of going to Seattle for my job, and all it ever does there is rain.

Lucky dog.

Yeah, but this is all very up in the air. She just said she wanted to know if I'd be willing were it to become necessary. Still, I get all excited at the prospect!
