I appreciate the last post was boring. Allow me to make up for it to a couple of you. Last night, I was exhausted from not getting enough sleep the night before (I woke up early to get up to Westchester ahead of my grandfather), but I just couldn't sleep. So, instead I worked on the 2006 Holiday fic I had started for [livejournal.com profile] trakkie. I scratched what I had to start because it was on the fast track to nowhere, and I came up with something that I may post later today. [livejournal.com profile] viridian, you might want to pay attention to that one because it's still within the same world as your fic, and yours might be sort of the follow up to it and the piece I wrote earlier. Kinda. Basically, they were alike enough in theme and vision (read: I lack the imagination to write different takes on the same world), I think they can go together.

And I can't believe I'm apologizing for it, but [livejournal.com profile] trakkie your story ended up a lot more slashy than Ianto/Rose. It's still there, as is the rest of your prompt, but I think the slash took over. Like I said, I don't even think I should apologize for that, and I'm not at all sure you'll mind, but just FYI.

Okay, I have mastered the formula for old skool Doctor Who episode names. It's like "Blanks on a Blank" only it's "The Blank of Blank." The only requirement is that the second Blank be something vaguely sinister (or, as in the case of Genesis of the Daleks, something very sinister--and cute!). "The Pie of Doom!" "The Elderberries of Discontent!" "The Circus Midgets of Questionable Morals!"

And Tom Baker continues to be a great Doctor. Really love him. Dunno about Leela. Mostly, I just don't care about her. I don't dislike her for all that she's wrapped in nearly nonexistent leather, but I'm not loving that fantasy trope either. I miss Sarah Jane :(

I like Leela. She's a nice change from the typical earth teenager companion. It's a pity her first story isn't out on DVD, because it really helps you understand where she's coming from. Next time you see Eugene, be sure to ask him for his VHS copy of "The Face of Evil".

The original concept for Leela was that the Doctor would "domesticate" her as she spent time with him. She's out of the leather in other stories you're going to see.

Yeah, but her being domesticated is more annoying, really. Watching "The Talons of Weng-Chiang" got a bit grating for the patronizing "let's civilize the wild girl." Other than the fact that she gets kidnapped or gotten the drop on more than she should, she's doing just fine being a savage. Insisting she behave a certain way is so colonial British, it's obnoxious.
