I went home for lunch and threw on a round of Dynasty Warriors 3 (TAKE THAT, YOU ELEPHANT RIDING MOFOS!), but before I got the remote to switch to the different video input, I caught a commercial for Burger King (yeah, I know, where have they been?). There were men breaking out into Broadway-esque song about their love of meat and how tired they were of soy and salad and how being a man required they eat some or another sandwich that BK is now offering.

Are they joking? Is it any wonder their share of the grease business is practically a thinner slice of fast food pie than Arby's?

Plus, as a fucking carnivore, I object to the eating of meat being seen as "manly" or the frou-frou vegetarian coddlying being lumped on my gender. I am as annoyed as anyone that meat is under attack (mmm, delicious meat; wasn't I talking about bacon earlier? I think I was). I'd get more offended by the meat-is-manly thing for sexism if I weren't just perplexed as to how BK thinks this ad campaign helps their crap food seem any better.

Technically, I'd say grilling meat is manly, while eating meat is more of a gender-ambiguous thing. I'm curious to know if anyone knows of a couple where during an outdoor barbecue, the girlfriend/wife does the grilling? As far as I've seen, when a couple hosts a barbecue, the guy is always doing the actual grilling (while frequently, the woman does all the other preparatory work.)
